- great projects to work on - fair pay (negotiate up front) - hard working team environment - if you put in the work upper management takes notes - most senior leaders had an open door - operations (field ops) dept has an outstanding team - good office location - loads of opportunities at the FSC

Cons

- lack of structured mentoring and career pathing - culture is sometimes “old school” - old systems

Pros

Decent salary, so-so benefits. CEO appears to care. 'Unlimited potential' IF you make it into the right clique. Much better company than when it was Hertz. I've worked for far worse at a lesser salary.

Cons

Surrounded by morons at every level. Many of the rank and file employees are lost in their own heads. Many new hired mechanics have never so much as worked on a bicycle let alone a machine that lifts people and equipment up to 185 feet in the air. Manufacturer training IS available but rarely is anyone approved to attend $$. Unrealistic expectations of "performance". If you're in the clique it doesn't matter. Otherwise it's just a tool to get rid people they don't like. Upper management is waaay out of touch with the behind the scenes of operations. They have no clue how a maintenance operation works. They think you can fix anything in 15 minutes without support or parts on hand. Too much emphasis on 'processes' that just don't work everywhere in any situation. "Follow the Operating Model". Yeah, right. Nepotism and the buddy system run rampant. Typical corporate operation.

Toxic environment, terrible upper management. Honest enough to get by, but if it isn't in writing, don't expect it to happen. This company cannot figure out who they want to be yet. Constant change in leadership. They proudly proclaim that they are the best, but if you take a look at their earnings, they are not.

Good pay, company truck, company laptop and phone. Decent benefits that cost a lot. 401k and stock option. Opportunity to grow.

Cons

Very long hours, no appreciation, micro managing, upper management doesn't have a clue, no equipment, old equipment. Very thin staffed.

The team we had built locally was fantastic!

Cons

Constant revolving door of upper management tore apart our wildly successful local team. Unethical and uncaring upper management despite the mission statement of being the employer of choice. Would be a great place if upper management was held accountable instead of the buddy system.

Pros

Herc Rentals is a great place to work. Upper management knows what it takes to make a business that takes care of its customers and employees and is making the current decisions that are setting Herc up for long-term success.

Cons

The rental industry as a whole is one where it has been increasingly hard to find talented truck drivers and mechanics and, while Herc has emerged as the employer of choice, it is still going to be a challenge to find these employees in the coming decades.
