Good in most areas, bad in a couple

Pros

Great associate directors and directors (overall), flexible schedules, student-focused approach, clear guidelines dictating promotions and performance, fun work culture, and decent compensation (after they completed market-research and boosted our pay!)

Cons

I sometimes question the actions of our campus president. I think he has good intentions, but doesn't always act accordingly. I don't really have an issue with other members of senior management. Our benefits are decent, but we pay a lot for them! Finally, I don't think our staffing levels are adequate given our workload. Our enrollment has recently decreased due to higher academic standards regarding SAP, probation, etc, but our efforts to service students has increased, meaning we need staff to carryout these new initiatives.

Pros

Consistent Classes from term to term.

Cons

No Support from Program Chair - I have been forced on more than one occasion to go against school policy and syllabus policy to "ensure a student completes the course". Student Focused not Education Focused Increased work expectation with no pay increase

Favoritism

Pros

Good start to career if wanting to get into higher educations.

Cons

This workplace feels like High School; favoritism is played out here. After a couple of weeks working here, I can tell who benefits from favoritism. The ones who do benefit might not see it, but they are the ones selected for a promotion when the time comes; even if it’s within a couple of months after they started the job and have no prior experience. The ones who do not benefit from it can work harder and show greater improvements, but will get overlooked. When they ask for clarification on why they were not selected for the promotion, they only get a simple statement, “You were not selected”. (Nothing concrete to work off from) Do not work for this Institution. Look Elsewhere. (I believe that this is one of the reasons for the constant turnover in the department)
