Pros

Great product and fun work environment

Cons

Capped commission models and frequent compensation restructures and cuts, while constantly being pushed to hit rigorous goals. As a salesperson, you are gradually getting paid less for more work.

Thanks for the feedback. We are fortunate to have remarkably high retention levels on our sales team - this is likely a testament to paying well above market rates to our sales people, in particular for a SaaS sale that comes with a short, predictable sales cycle; and yes, we do run a fast race when it comes to activity and goals. Another plus is that we invest heavily in sales training and management so our team can develop their skill set and do so while working a clean forty hour week. For the vast majority of our team, that adds up to a terrific formula for work-life balance and earning power. At some point, every salesperson has to decide if the pros, like above, are outweighed by their desire to earn at even higher levels - and that’s usually the day that a salesperson will go seek out a job in enterprise sales. I hope that when they do, the skills they’ve learned here will set them up for continued success.

Pros

Great coworkers. The team itself is very fun to work with and you will definitely make friends that you enjoy spending time with.

Cons

The culture has changed quite a bit. Feels like the company doesn't value tenured employees and consistently reduces the income potential rather than incentivizing employees with experience to stay. Many decisions are now based on how changes will effect what we can show the board rather than the implications those have on the people that work here.

Thanks for the feedback, though it is an unusual review. In the middle of a global pandemic that is affecting billions of people and in the US alone more than 10,000,000 people lost their jobs in the last two weeks, Housecall Pro has retained all of our employees and continued to provide benefits to everyone regardless of tenure. We moved all of our people to a work from home approach two weeks ahead of the vast majority of companies in the US and ahead of public facilities in California. We stood up a public service for our customers, in a matter of hours, running nightly broadcasts for thousands of Pros to educate them on COVID-19 and how they can survive during the crisis. We are taking care of our people, our community and our country. That has been our focus and we are all chipping in so that we can do this together.

Pros

- True startup environment complete with pivots, fast iterations, and standup meetings. Coffee, snacks, Patagonia swag. - Great training grounds for future entrepreneurs. This SAAS startup isn't trying to create a new crypto currency or "Uber for (insert whatever niche here)". They have found their core customers, which happens to be the very service professionals that live next door to you. The smaller guys. And the company executes on bringing value to these guys like no other. You will get to witness all the silicon valley buzz words in realtime. - Selling this software is a breeze because it is quite literally the best in the market. Basically get paid $$$ to brag and educate all day. - MONEY. Get paid to perform.

Cons

- Like all startups, growth is a huge priority and deadlines can often add pressure to an already high pressure job. - Can often feel repetitive, while the pay is great it can feel a bit tedious at times - The company runs at a breakneck speed at all times. Your first two weeks will feel like a month's worth of experience and you will have months fly by. It is intense to say the least. I must have aged 5 years in the two I spent here Basically, if you are looking for a relaxed/passive and more laid back job, save yourself the effort of applying. If you are confident in your ability to sell and are looking for massive amounts of startup/SAAS experience this may be place you.

Start-ups are an intense environment, not for the faint of heart, and Housecall Pro runs faster than most. As I think about the extraordinary events of the last two weeks as Covid19 has ravaged America, I consider us incredibly fortunate that we have this culture of operating at breakneck speed. It has served us in our ability to support our Pros in this challenging time, to support our people and to keep them safe and to make sure that even in arduous times, we will not only get by, that we will manage to thrive.
