UNDERPAYING THEIR EMPLOYEES

Pros

Work from home. Thats it.

Cons

There is no way to contact ANYONE who works for the company at all for any reason. No communication with their employees. They will tell you that you can't discuss pay with other interpreters on their internal webpage because its something that is negotiated individually. Yet their own employees will tell you its a flat rate across the board and not negotiable . So, if you have certifications or degrees run away from this company as far as you can. An interpreter taking calls for medical will be paid the same amount as someone who is interpreting court calls and the same pay as someone who is interpreting regular basic customer service calls. There is NO room for growth. There are no pay raises, just pay cuts. They will work you, OVER work you. You will receive back to back calls with NO BREAK. You will hang up a call and your phone will ring as soon as the line is clear. Your interpretation skills will suffer due to exhaustion. Medical benefits? Cheapest coverage you'll ever get, this is not medical coverage- its the basic Obama care for preventive services so don't you dare get sick while working here. You won't have a supervisor and actually, you won't get to talk to any living person unless you're getting "dismissed". There is no Union and thats how the want to keep it because that way none of the current at home workers can join and negotiate better pay and better benefits. Oh, wait, they just launched an account with a discount website where you can get 10 percent off some services (think movie tickets or a limited amount of hotels etc) And then, when you actually look up the prices, they are the same as Travelocity or any other discount website. If you have no other choice and need some experience start working here, get the experience and move on. Their "medical training" is a joke. And then, you get to interpret COMPLICATED MEDICAL CALLS, calls that peoples LIVES DEPEND ON. Some interpreters have said they don't feel qualified to take these calls, yet management pushes them on you. They like to WARN AND THREATEN THEIR EMPLOYEES. So, if you want to be underpaid, have no negotiating power over your salary and be forced into taking calls you're not qualified to take then apply here. I know a lot of good people work here, and they love what they do and love to help people communicate but this company is taking advantage of the bilingual/multilingual community.

Pros

Work from home. Interesting, fun and challenging calls. Opportunity to help people.

Cons

At any point your salary can be decreased and your workload increased, if you disagree your only option is to quit. Nonexistent support, it takes a while to receive a response if you have an issue, and often it is blamed on you, even if it is clearly the system issue, you're advised to contact your phone/internet provider. The company used to only hire highly qualified interpreters in the past but recently it is mostly just bilingual representatives that do the job, therefore the quality of service got worse. Good for those that know some English and would like to work from home for salary close to call center customer service jobs, but if you are experienced interpreter who expects some respect and appreciation for your skills, look somewhere else.

Pros

No spending on gas and no traffic hassle

Cons

Run away! It is slavery! !!Management doesn’t care about employees at all, fooling them around with their disgusting rules and changes. Cut interpreters ‘pay checks and increase the workload! We barely have time to take a breath !They absolutely don’t care . Cheap pay, no benefits, sweatshop slavery! Exploiting the employees as much as they can ! I have never worked for any one who can make their employees so grievous and angry !!! It is a hell!!!
