Pros

Remote job, no need to worry about commute

Cons

Terrible management who does not care about employee's mental health or rights. Reduced hours because of AI, low pay, no yearly pay raise, bare minimum health insurance, no holiday pay rate. If you want to use PTO then it depends on their mood to decide if you get approved or not.

Pros

We can work from home. If you are an interpreter professional, this is a great place to sharpen your skills. Very flexible when you need some days or weeks or even months off from work. Relatively organized training and supervision. Company provides you with a computer and earphone, but you can't even use Google in that computer. Purely just for work.

Cons

Hour rate is way too low for such high intensity and high skill work. No pay raise even after 5 years. It has never raised a cent since the first day being there. No sick pay. No pension contributions. They pay almost the same whether you have decades of interpretation and translation experience with many professional certificates as those who just enter into the market. Not fair for interpretation professionals with certificates.

Pros

You can work from home. Nothing Else.

Cons

VERY low pay, NO raises ever, Quality Evaluations that almost always say "Meets Expectations" for everyone, no matter how good and skilled you are. They also send you Court Calls without any Training - considering how high-stakes these hearings are, this is highly irresponsible and unethical! If you request court training, they will turn you down. Yet they will provide the training to new interpreters. After approving your paid time off, they will reverse it without any notice. They pay you less than what companies pay bilingual Customer Service Agents. Benefits: Health insurance is a joke. After working for them for years, they will NEVER give you a raise, even if you request it. In fact, if you ask for anything, the answer is ALWAYS NO. They retaliate against employees who are trying to form a union. If you interpret verbatim, they will write you up for interpreting profanities (which should be interpreted). They value customer service more than accurate interpretation.

Pros

The company is remote-first, so you can live and work anywhere in the United States.

Cons

The pay is terrible, and they haven't given any raises in over 2 years. The last raise that they did give was only a couple cents an hour. The benefits are also terrible, you don't accrue a full day of PTO in an entire month of work. Upper management views employees as replaceable and feedback is not welcome. You could risk retaliation if you disagree with management. When someone quits, they just expect everyone to take on more work, or they find off-shore talent that ends up being difficult for employees to train due to language/cultural barriers on top of normal competency/attitude barriers.

Pros

We are given the tools to do the work and management is good. Very talented, small team of engineers. You are left alone for the most part.

Cons

Some managers are very abrasive and hard to deal with. Pay is dismal (better negotiate a good salary up front) and we haven't had raises in a long time. They don't even keep up with inflation, yet health insurance prices go up yearly. Bonus has no logic to it. It's decided by made up projected numbers that are completely unrealistic some years. There is very little guidance on where we are going except for one meeting a year.
