Pros

Calls for some languages can be continuous. Agents supporting interpreters at lower level and recruiting staff are courteous and professional, and a pleasure to work with.

Cons

No flexibility at all; when interpreter is classified as "employee" it means having employee obligations but no real employee benefits. Pay is much lower than comparable work in the field. Top managers do not listen to interpreter problems or needs when addressed, but rather act as robots following some guidelines and appear as they're not yet suited to occupy the position.

Pros

You get to work at home. You learn a lot about different topics such as banking, police procedures and medicine.

Cons

1.Very demanding. You are expected to learn terminology related to medicine, law, finance and administration over night. The training is superficial. You get a big glossary of words that you must inhale in order to be ready for any call. Language line has little interest in really developing your abilities. Many agencies expect you to be certified in an area. Languageline doesn't really certify anyone in a specific area, so their clients think they're getting a certified medical interpreter, but in fact, they got someone who is a product of self-study only. Clients of course do complain and the management goes on these panic compaigns and starts to rigorously monitor everyone. 2. You can earn more money doing almost anything else.
