Pros

provide paid training for people interested in the industry and have not taken any training with no experience. After hired, will provide a week's training. 30 hours considered full time and provide insurance and 401k. Pretty much provide all equipments you need t.o perform the job but you still need to be somewhat computer savvy

Cons

low pay rate, no PTO, no OT pay, no holiday pay, no direct supervisor, no one to get in touch to other than opening tickets in the system. Need to wear their uniform and need a big enough space to set up a backdrop. calls are back to back and only 15 second in between calls.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. It is unfortunate you did not find the support you needed available. We strive to provide the most up to date training available, we have 24 X 7 support and self-support available in our extensive library, as well as a team of managers to support our interpreters. Additionally, we have many other resources available to support and help our interpreters grow and be successful. We wish you well in your future endeavors.

Pros

WFH, decent training for the most part (though the trainers did not show up on time on three different occasions, we had to wait for an hour). The interpreting work itself is great for myself, I am learning a lot and have a sense of being useful, needed, helpful.

Cons

Low pay, subpar benefits, no federal holidays, non-transparent communication, punitive environment, cheap computers, Internet explorer is the choice of a browser in 2023, they can cancel your scheduled work the last minute (so you can't plan ahead and you do not get paid once they cancel your shift), the reimbursements differ amongst the interpreters, so any talk about the wages is strongly discouraged on their internal chat platform, and on and on.

Thank you for taking time to leave a review. As a “Great Place to Work” we are always looking for ways to improve our interpreter’s experiences. After doing an extensive evaluation of our pay and benefits in comparison to other employers in our business, we find that our compensation and benefits are consistent with the industry. We regularly review industry compensation. Additionally, we have many other resources available to support you with equipment and technical issues. If you would like to discuss further, please email interpretercommunications@languageline.com.
