Pros

RBT’s were knowledgeable and great to work with. I was hourly and thought I would have a flexible schedule that I’d be able to pick.

Cons

Any corrective feedback (literally the main part of a BCBA’s job is to analyze) seemed unwanted by other BCBA’s/supervisors. They stated the RBT’s were behind on hours, but let me go without finding a replacement because I couldn’t provide 20 hours a week due to my other full time job. I was hourly not salary and should’ve been able to do the amount I wanted as being hired in as a part time support employee. $250 was taken out of my last check labeled as “New Hire Training Fee Reimb“ beware of their scam ABA operation. Petty environment in the higher positions.

Pros

-The Pay is decent for a low level health care position. I started in at 19 an hour.

Cons

-ABA is very shallow and seen as abuse by the autism community -They will also try to frame your service here as helping kids, when you are likely doing harm without realizing it. -You will feel like you are training the children like they're dogs -You are encouraged to ignore the children when they cry. -Lighthouse has a passive aggressive work culture. You likely will not be able to completely trust your coworkers. I saw one poor individual accused of horrible things with no prior investigation, it was based on total hearsay. He was promptly terminated. -Breaks are about 7 minutes a piece and you may or may not get them. -Benefits are also rather shoddy

Pros

- Great stepping stone for those interested in Behavior Therapy as they offer tuition reimbursement after you have been there long enough. - Weekends off - Holidays off - Accrued vacation time is really good

Cons

- Super steep learning curve, first week all online courses, assessment test you must pass in under 3 tries, then 1 week of child interaction and practice before swift evaluations/termination. - 7 minute lunch breaks - Rush rush rush nonstop - Never knew what was happening that day until I arrived so I could not prepare. Found out schedule 5-10 mins before shift started. - Leadership treats you like a number, let's get you in and out as quickly as humanly possible. Sink or swim? Let's find out. - You will get sick at this job. You are working with little kids. If you get sick within those first 2 weeks and need to call in, you are practically doomed.
