      Pros

      Smart and talented people working in the middle management level. Some interesting technology creates good potential, decent pay and benefits.

      Cons

      Totally dysfunctional executive management, too many reorganization, never a clear direction. So here is the math...within 1 year, my groups' VP resigned when the new SVP was on board for 3 months. The SVP brought in another SVP, then kick the same person out within 6 months. Then they let go the director the next month...another Sr Director decided to quit on his own after 20+ years in this company. Never a clear communication path, never had a BU all hand meeting , never even the willingness to listen.

As a new company, we continue to grow, and with growth comes changes. Although there has been some supply chain management turnover in the past, the new SVP has built out his team and we are looking forward to their continued success.

      Pros

      Good coworkers; Company paid relocation, salary isn't too low in photonics industry. But working load is terrible

      Cons

      Lots of Layoff, voluntary layoff is on-going since 2018. VP and above level changes are dramatic. A lot of JDSU directors and young engineers starts to leave on their own in the same time. NPI stopped, existing production discontinued. Terrible company culture, managers are playing politics game in dark. Don't join if you are strong in technical, go find other places to stay. Saw they laid off fellow engineer as nothing to lose.

      A good company ruined by bad managers

      Pros

      1. Christmas shutdown, flexible vacation policy, annual summer BBQ and Christmas party, benefits such as ESPP/RSU/401k match 2. A lot of smart coworkers, technology is top in the field, learnt a lot about optics 3. Nice office building, close to restaurants and supermarkets. 4. Good immigration policy, 6 months waiting time for green card application, less than some other companies

      Cons

      1. Bad management, upper management has no direction, keep cancelling projects halfway, and in the end shutdown the whole project and layoff all hardworking engineers, but still keep the managers 2. Some managers are very rude, has no respect for others, and do not listen to other people's opinions. 3. DTO policy can be used against you if your manager is not considerate 4. Insurance options are limited, need to pay quite a lot if you want a good plan 5. Too many meetings, wast of time to sit and listen to political arguments
