Overly Complex, Mismanaged Software

Pros

-Free food and soft drinks in the kitchen -Lots of smart and professional people -Younger staff means there are often company wide events -Management is definitely trying to work on culture

Cons

-Software is extremely complex and not really transferable. Many people that are otherwise very smart feel stupid trying to navigate the byzantine software used by the company. -Company often feels rudderless, shifting between priorities on a whim and never really finishing anything -Job roles and requirements can change unexpectedly based on needs. It's not a large company so even if you don't do support, you might be asked to pick up phones. -No upward mobility. Several people have been there 15+ years and still do roughly the same thing as when they joined. -Despite being salaried, employees are expected to manually track all of their efforts, to the quarter hour, and submit them daily.

Thanks --- we have been working diligently on our culture and employee engagement. We have seen significant improvements in these areas through our more recent employee surveys. Our software is based on industry standard constructs for developing enterprise-class software solutions, utilizing modern n-tiered web architecture with separated tiers for presentation, application and data layers. Our technologies scale up and out and create a great experience for anyone looking to work with modern web-based technologies that are prevalent in large financial institutions. We publish annual strategy visions and communicate with our employees on a regular basis to update them on goals, general progress and strategy updates. We utilize a spin-off application, from our core application framework, called "Murina" that is used to manage all of our work assignments. Murina creates an easy to use, modern, and familiar application with automation techniques to reduce interactions and automatic notifications for key milestones and hand-offs. In 2018, we performed a company-wide refresh to ensure all job roles were clearly defined and published. Over the past nine years, MBMS has been awarded a "Best Companies to Work for in New York (Small/Medium)" six times by the The New York State Society for Human Resource Management.

Pros

Decent benefits time earned and sick pay vacation time. Won't run out of work always busy and demanding and no idle time

Cons

Training and management leave a lot to be desired. Turnover of employees is extremely high. Too many office clicks, almost like I was back in high school. Lots of favoritism. No exit interview to voice an opinion. Supervisors stated that they did not offer additional training for me as I was struggling with my job. Was told that the training of one whole week was enough and that they didn't train that way that I could figure it out. Job changed 3 times in about 45 days half of which I was be er trained on. No set across the board way of doing things different answers to same question on how to handle.

At MBMS, our turn-over rate is very low, so that perception is not accurate. We also have exit interviews for all employees as they leave. We recently formalized our onboarding process to create a defined training syllabus for new employees. We also just started working on a defined training program to help advance the skills of our more tenured employees and help them achieve career growth through advancement opportunities.

Cons

Preparation for new contracts was handled poorly, resulted in many lay offs of new hires.
