Pros

occasional work from home, laid back work environment

Cons

Under paid, micro managers, disorganized, say that they offer tuition reimbursement for continuing education but won't actually supply it unless its related to insurance (who goes to school for insurance??), employees handling claims are overwhelmed and get little to no relief, wages are the same (for the same positions) throughout the company they do not take cost of living in different areas in to account

Thank you for sharing your concerns. We routinely review our compensation and benefits and your feedback will add to that process. We encourage you to discuss this concern regarding education and compensation with Human Resources and/or your manager. Please suggest to them what you see as competitive compensation and benefits whether by market or position. As you know, we are in the process of reviewing and implementing a number of workplace recommendations as part of our employee engagement process. It’s an exciting time to be at MEMIC and we hope you’ll take part. An open dialog will help us all reach our desired performance goals. Thank you.

Thank you for providing your feedback, we appreciate you taking the time to write a review. We are sorry we didn’t meet your expectations, however, according to others it seems we’re a good fit. As we’ve said elsewhere on Glassdoor, we have been growing rapidly and we are committed to training both employees and managers to support growth and professional development. A recent employee survey placed us 12% better than our peer companies in the U.S. It also gave us a road map for specific areas to focus on so we can do that much better. Most recently, we asked employees what they’d suggest we do to reach our improvement goals and approximately 40% of employees responded. We are reviewing all those ideas and looking forward to implementing some of the recommendations. In addition to the survey, we are already making strides to improve – new core hours, work-from-home options, paid volunteer time off, and more. As another recent post said, “MEMIC is great and getting better.”

Pros

A company that may be trying hard in the market.

Cons

Old school thinking doesn't work. They do not promote their best who had intentions to stay, they only disappoint them.

We’re sorry to hear that you feel this way and encourage you to talk with your supervisor or manager about your career path. As you know, we support and pay for continuing education to help people advance. MEMIC works hard to promote employees based on qualifications, cultural fit, professional development and leadership abilities regardless of their location. We have doubled the size of the company in the last seven years and have been building our leadership team to manage the growth and develop opportunities which will continue to open doors for employees.
