Pros

Company values are People, Knowledge and Innovation. When the company founder Elmer Winter was alive, the culture truly reflected those values. ManpowerGroup was created from the original staffing business (Manpower) and a group of companies purchased to diversify and update the services provided. Those additional businesses are now the growing sectors and future of the company.

Cons

The staffing side of the business was years behind the competitors in innovating, lost market share for many years and has been in chaos. Major restructure of staffing business model was announced in 2013 then retracted at the end of the year. The top heads rolled in 2014 only after major chaos in the field and significant cuts of talent and experience throughout the country. Top staffing exec's LI profile brags about cutting headcount but can't say the business client base grew. Current CEO used to say the company couldn't 'shrink ourselves to greatness' but the company continues to use staff cuts to achieve numbers/quarterly earnings for stockholders. Not surprising that within Manpower there is a culture of fear. If you are looking for a company which values people, do not look here.

Pros

Before being terminated, my checks were deposited on time.

Cons

If your position is terminated, be sure to get the termination notification in writing with the names and titles of everyone involved in the termination discussion. I had to follow up several times to receive the notification. After being terminated, I applied for unemployment. Two weeks later I received a letter from unemployment stating that Manpower was contesting my departure from the company and told unemployment that I quit. Fortunately, I had all the documentation I needed to provide unemployment. However, Manpower actually still stated that I had quit even after the letter from them clearly says "terminated." This went on for two months while I was denied unemployment benefits. Unemployment followed their process, but Manpower took advantage of every possible delay in the system they could. On two separate occasions, representatives from unemployment, upon seeing the company involved, stated, "Oh, you worked for Manpower. Now this makes sense. They do this all the time. They try to get out of paying ." The situation is frustrating, but don't give up. That's what Manpower is hoping you will do. If you get terminated, be prepared to demand everything in writing. Document the conversations and email it to them requesting an official letter. You may also want to attach the termination letter to your unemployment application.

Pros

-Friendly team atmosphere in the Milwaukee office -Flexibility with schedules

Cons

-Digital marketing is a weak point in the NA marketing dept -Senior leaders are constantly restructuring the dept to fill short term needs with clear lack of long term vision -Limited investment for foundational marketing staples including website platforms and ad budgets -Leaders would rather ineffectively outsource digital marketing efforts at large expense than grow talent in-house -Talent and marketing focus is split far too thin across the various MPG brands -Collaboration between IT & marketing departments can be slow and simple tasks can take weeks -No real efforts or budgets for building effective inbound lead gen efforts outside of weak prescriptive campaigns running year after year with little value to show -Very little digital strategy is executed out of NA marketing, the majority of campaigns are handed down from global marketing, with little thought given to the actual execution -The North American marketing dept exists to check a box and act as a task rabbit for sales and leadership -Manpower Group is a sales lead organization, and marketing suffers due to poor knowledge among the leadership in sales of effective modern marketing tactics -Experts in digital marketing act as educators attempting to guide productive discussions into bringing true value to the organization, vs maintaining the status quo year over year
