Keeps Getting Worse

Pros

Pay and benefits, that is all. And the only reason these are so good is to try and prevent people from being able to find comparable rates elsewhere so good people end up putting up with terrible "leadership" for longer then they should.

Cons

Management pure and simple. Beyond toxic, they claim they welcome feedback but punish anyone who does not tell them they are doing a great job and will fabricate stories to fire people who tell them they aren't doing a good job. They do not develop leadership from within they do not have anyone capable of developing another person at this point and they actively punish good leaders till they leave. Management is incompetent, hides in their offices, and micromanages the competent employees till they quit. "Leadership" makes promises they either can't keep or have no intention of keeping just to keep employees from leaving and as soon as the resignations slow down they go back on their words. Employees are viewed as expendable so turnover is high and lower level employees are tasked with constantly training new people while management sits back and barks orders from their offices.

Pros

Pay, benefits, performance, pay, free soda,

Cons

Only plus here is pay. The scheduling here is spilt days off between Friday and one weekday, which is hard to balance out your personal life due to the long 12+ hour shifts. This DC has a huge turnover rate, Which is a huge problem. Main thing here is that there is favoritism with seniority. which makes sense on paper, but it screws over all the new hires because you get sent to build carts in the freezer which is below degree weather, (which some excel in this area and others don't, chances are that you are not going to succeed here unless you have been experienced for at least a year.) Not only that, it means you have last say about anything and that includes the equipment. Every time I got to my shift to start my job, I would get nasty looks and get called out by coworkers fighting for working pallet riders or ones that even had battery. (other shifts don't charge the riders so they were always out of battery.) Typical day here starts with a pre-shift meeting, where they announce the minutes for the day (the amount of work you have to do before you go home.) Because of the turnover rate, they never have a full crew. Expect to get 700 mins everyday, which means 12 hours minimum if you bust your back non stop for 12 hours straight. Because every night is a high volume night, everyone is racing/scrambling to get their work done as fast as possible. Which as a new hire, you are learning and you are trying to get things done (even after they train you for 2 weeks. Believe me, you are still learning to build up your speed) and sometimes you get in their way, which gets you nasty looks, bad vibes, and even confrontational situations. which gets me to my next cons about this job. This is an extremely hostile work environment. coworkers here will be stressed all around from the high volume nights and will let out their frustration towards you if you get in their way while working or doing something wrong unintentionally. If I could give advice to this DC management team, it would be that you are screwing over all the new hires by prioritizing everyone by seniority. which again, makes sense on paper but the reality is that's the reason you cannot keep a full crew and have massive turnover rates, screwing over the whole DC in the process. if they had a rolling schedule with the areas/equipment you get to work with. they would have a bigger crew = less work for everyone all around. If you like to work long hours and don't mind giving up your personal life for decent pay, by all means this is the right fit for you.

Pros

They are Union and have good benefits.

Cons

I worked for Martin Brower for 30+ years. They were great for the first 20. After they were bought by Reyes Holdings employees became numbers. The work load has doubled but the pay doesn't represent that. The injury rate is high there. If you are injured you become a cancer to them. You are expected to push carts that can weigh up to 1800 lbs. into McDonalds stores with no assistance. You also have to deliver to stores in the middle of the night with no security and poor lighting. They have trained the routers to maximize loads daily. When I started there I was shown the stack of over 300 applications and told I should be proud I was picked. Now they are lucky to get 5 or 6 applications. And the turnover is high. When I left the company had a goal of 125 drivers. 3 years later and they have 106. 3 fewer than when I left.
