Pros

Benefits, 401K, LOTS of overtime, if you like that.

Cons

Employees are treated like worker ants and like we have no value as human beings. Management never gives kudos or "pats on the back". Cutbacks in staffing are killing us as they just keep redistributing the workload to whomever is left. Each person has to do the work of 3 or 4 people except for the favorites, who don't have to work at all. I would never recommend this company to family or friends. They have no "humanness". They have no compassion or warmth. All of management uses the exact same words, like they are brainwashed. No associates are treated as individuals. Management sits in heated/air conditioned offices and barks orders and tells us how much more we are going to have to do to "keep up". We have been told that if we don't like it, leave, there are 10 people waiting behind us for our job. They only hire temporary employees now. Outsourcing has become a standing joke for any who need tech assistance. This company is a perfect example of how a society can fall - not allowing for family time or a social life, expecting you to give up everything to work whenever they tell you to ( and they change the hours constantly and don't give any notice so people can make arrangements for childcare, etc. ) and expecting your entire life to revolve around the job. They constantly tell us what a great company Michaels is and how well they treat us, like if they say it enough, people will believe it. If you don't like being told 5 minutes before end of shift on Friday that you have to work on Saturday, don't work at Michaels.

Pros

Close to home, that is all.

Cons

NO training upon hire, no feedback from management, chronically understaffed, expected for work non stop, skip breaks, unsafe working conditions, rude managers who never tell you you do anything right, point system for mistakes, but NO training to avoid any, employees expected to clean up (bathrooms, store) with little or no sanitary protection. Horrible, worse job I have ever had.
