Pros

30% employee discount even on sale items, flexible hours, it was fun seeing all the products and being first to know about sales if you're interested in art supplies

Cons

Irregular schedule, low pay even for experienced employees, not enough hours to support yourself if you're an independent adult.

Pros

The coworkers are all extremely nice. They understand its a type of job that relies on a "you learn as you go". It feels great when customers ask for advice and you can help them.

Cons

Horrible management! The head manager doesn't communicate at all. They never got their things together to help a newbie start a job. They didn't step me up with my employee account. I had to constantly ask and it was already my second week. By the third week I was assigned a particular job... to organize all the items from a cart and to put them back on the shelves. But I've been asking for a scanner on day two. The thing was no one actually trained me. I kept asking if I needed one, it's my first time in retail. So i didn't know how things are. They would get mad if we didn't pick up the phone... but they never trained me on how to use the phone or how to interact with customers and assist with their questions. I don't even understand how our online dilveries work. They just pretty much threw me in there and then management would get mad if we did it wrong. But I never knew the right way... when I wasn't even taught it. Also, when I finally gotten my account and I was trying to request the days I can and couldnt work the website wouldn't let me submit. So i went and ask one of the assistant managers bcus the head manager wasn't there.... the only advice she could give me is that I would have to call the store and MAYBE I could reach her and get my call transferred. I'm just wasting my time. Its not worth it.

Pros

Discount on products the store sells. Was able to pick up extra shifts as a part-time worker whenever anyone didn't want to work theirs as long as it didn't put me at or over 40 hours. Coworkers were friendly. Very clean store. Breaks managed well.

Cons

While you can get all sorts of hours assigned, my experience with requesting a slight change in when I started was ignored. I was hired to work the back and floor, but also ended up spending a good chunk of time as a cashier. Maybe 1/3 of my time at the store was as a cashier. I unloaded trucks, stocked, opened and closed, cashiered, set up displays. The only jobs I didn't do were the specialty jobs like framing and such. Cashiering was unexpected and would have been nice to be told about.
