A dangerous place to start your career

Great (probably too good) work-life balance Little (probably too little) pressure from managers You can have a very relaxed life here at MSTR - not so much work, a bunch of friends you will make in the company, a fancy mall next to the office, and a nice area to live in.

Cons

As opposed to some reviews here, I do not recommend new graduates to join MSTR as their first job. You will have a job that you can chill on and I see many people just started to chill for a long time even many years. They lack the energy to break the situation once they started their H1b and green card process. What you can learn here is minimum, as there is no training and little mentoring. Your manager will expect little from you and gives you little inspiration to learn more and achieve more. You are sliding into a very dangerous situation that you will feel comfortable about the job and life.

Decent brand name in market, strong technical resources.

Cons

No strategy from a marketing or product standpoint, no product direction or clear innovation, competitors like Tableau are taking over market share, micro-management, company steered by the whim of Michael Saylor, low employee moral, new customer base almost non-existent and existing customer base shrinking, long-time MicroStrategy sales execs sit on accounts.

Too much re-orgs and poor upper-level management

Pros

Good work-life balance. Co-workers are nice and cool. And the pay is OK in DC area.

Cons

The top-level management is so poor. Re-org frequently. Not much opportunities to learn new technology. As a QE, you must spend most of your time learning its own product and configuring environment. PMs usually don't know what they are doing.
