Pros

- Hard working employees - Still one or two good people left

Cons

- New set of Execs largely brought in by Private Equity owners. There for short term financial gain, not long term company development. - Product maintenance has suffered lack of investment, which is now impacting customers. Issues every week, if not every day. - Very few snr engineering folk left who really understand the products.

Pros

- Tech stack is fairly modern depending on your team - Company mission is to do good in the world - Product highly desirable and relevant - Other engineers are intelligent and helpful

Cons

- They took away ESPP and gave nothing to replace it. - Salaries are below market - Communication about publicly-announced acquisition is poor - Slow review cycle - 2 months at least (???) - Technical hiring isn't happening, and the number of people quitting has never been higher. - HR is unhelpful.

Pros

You can learn a ton and climb generally if you have that aggressive hustler-like motivation. Managers are generally more hands-off and supportive where necessary, where they'll get out of the way of those who put in the effort. Work from home opportunities are generally very easy to negotiate if you need it. Benefits are more or less on par with similar companies but health insurance was excellent. Perks make the day-to-day of office life very enjoyable (but more on that in the Cons section..). Started in Mimecast Support with some of the best teammates I could ask for. There I was able to learn SO MUCH from the very collaborative, supportive, and subject matter expert-rich team. Later I transitioned to a more specialized technical escalation role. There I was able to interface with several areas of the organization (Support, Engineering, Customer Success, Sales, and Marketing), from whom I also learned a lot. This is truly a place where you can learn a great deal if you have the motivation and hunger to thrive amidst pure chaos. They invest a great deal in company culture and it shows-- I would say the executive leadership and VPs in general make themselves very accessible which may be a challenge as the company continues to grow. If you fit in with that culture, you could very much find yourself a shining star in their organization.

Cons

Their salaries are not on the whole competitive with US tech companies, especially for highly technical roles. DO NOT let them sell you on company culture (free cold brew, catered lunch, swag, sales-broy trips) alone to justify the low-balled salaries that they will try to offer you. This put me personally into a situation later on where more junior teammates (ones I trained) were getting paid more than me. This is simply unacceptable-- salary levels should be reviewed and adjusted on a regular basis. This is a widespread issue that I hope they address in the coming years. This is also why despite a generally positive review otherwise, I can't give them more than 3 stars. From when I started, Mimecast was going through some serious changes, pushing to break out of the SMB-niche that they had found over the years into delivering leading enterprise-class solutions in email security. Along with that came some serious growing pains-- frequent changes in management along with poor mentoring and training for new managers, technical and operational challenges of scale, few (if any) established processes for aligning business goals between departments. There also remain some very strong egos towards the top that make implementing sensible technical and security improvements impossible.
