Pros

There are some gems among the top-heavy lumps of coal in the management/supervisory team.

Cons

Non-management employees are treated poorly. Shuffled back and forth from the downtown Portland office and the Milwaukie office with no consideration for any hardship this may cause the worker. Many of the workers have been forced to help out working in Customer Service for months due to the large amount of new business. Unfortunately they have had less than 2 hours training and no training in how to handle upset callers or even how to find the answers to many of the questions the callers need assistance with. For many workers, this assignment involves skills that have nothing to do with their real jobs. There has been no compensation for this, even for those making less than those in the department they are on loan to. The amount of mandatory overtime leaves little time for anything more than running errands on your only day off. Forget your spouse, kids, pets, clean house, home cooked, meals, doctors appointments, exercise & sanity. If you have no life, this could be the perfect place for you.

Pros

A decent onboarding program is about where anything positive begins and ends. The Moda "betterist" slogan is positive on the surface, but I didn't find it to be reality.

Cons

I moved here from out of state primarily for family reasons, but I did so based upon securing employment at Moda Health. I had been in the same industry for 29 years and after being terminated after only 10-weeks for vague and really non-specific reasons, I feel disrespected and demeaned.

Pros

-Somewhat flexible schedule (although my manager would demean me if i wanted to actually flex time which was allowed.. you were expected to work the standard 9-5 regardless of being a flex employee) -Free coffee -Free tea -Room for "advancement" -Comfy chairs?

Cons

-Favorites, most managers had favorites. If you challenged the status quo, you were labeled as someone who needed to go. -Management was always the first to know (aka layoffs and other politics) yet lower employees were always the last to know. Essentially, you found out corporate info through the news prior to your manager. -Environment did not allow for a healthy work life. You were expected to sit down, put your head down, and work. -No applicable professional development. Rules were all "made up" and no real work experience could be applied once you leave Moda. -Health insurance through Moda as an employee was more expensive with less benefits than my current job which is not in healthcare. Absolute shame! Set the standard for other employers in the market, don't be bottom of the totem pole... -Mandatory Saturdays if claims are backed up... Start time was 6am! MANDATORY 6am overtime on saturdays.... So much for work/life balance? -Last but certainly not least..... HR. Human Resources was incredibly shady. They pulled me into their office after they had obtained a personal text I had sent to a coworker about the layoffs. They warned me to keep my mouth shut. This was incredibly inappropriate and quite frankly was none of their business as I never signed a disclosure agreement upon employment. Be honest with your employees and stop hiding the truth from them!
