Toxic Work Environment, No Employee Support, and Unrealistic Expectations
Pros
I don’t see any pros at all but I believe other teams maybe doing well with their team members (I wasn’t lucky to be in those teams)
Cons
I was hired as a Simulation Engineer at this private company, and from the start, the experience was deeply frustrating. The company’s approach is to fully rely on managers' words without considering or listening to their employees. I quickly realized that there is little to no support from the company itself, as they leave everything up to the discretion of individual managers. During my onboarding, I focused on completing required training, but my manager immediately expressed disappointment that I hadn't reached out to her first. Despite my efforts to communicate that I needed time to learn a new simulation software and understand a complicated model, she had unrealistic expectations and dismissed my concerns, insisting that what should take two months could be done in two weeks. The micromanagement was overwhelming, with daily demands for updates on every task. Even while completing the necessary training, my progress was criticized as "not up to expectations," creating a highly stressful environment. Despite working hard to meet her impossible standards, she constantly undermined my abilities, telling me I was "just an okay coder." It was clear that no matter how hard I worked, nothing would satisfy her, and there was no avenue to express my concerns or receive support from the company. Eventually, I was fired without anyone from HR or the company hearing my side of the story or offering any plan to help me succeed. This experience severely impacted my confidence and made me regret leaving a good company for this one. Fortunately, I’ve since found a new job where I’m thriving, but the lack of support and toxic work environment at this private company was extremely damaging.
