Pros

In it's infancy, MySpace was a great place to work. There was a great balance with product and strategy, and it appeared that there was a clear vision of where the company was headed. Additionally, due to the notoriety of being the largest social network company (at it's time), it was a great resume piece, as well as made for great conversation with chief marketers of large brands.

Cons

The only downside was that Senior Management completely lost it's vision, as well as not being wise on it's hiring practice. Towards the end of my employment, MySpace was fairly bloated as far as staff goes, and that staff wasn't the most efficient group of people. They had no clear vision, and had to continuously try to reinvent the process on an ongoing basis which contributed to poor morale amongst the team.

Pros

It is an environment like few others as far as scale goes. Lots of problems to solve.

Cons

They promote based on tenure, not merit or experience or skill. So must of the middle management are not the brightest bulbs in the box, but they sure think they are becuase of their title. The inter-communication between groups is no where to be found. Oh and god forbid they document ANYTHING. Their "product" department drives development and the folks there can hardly form a thought, let alone make up thier mind.

Pros

Myspace offers a comparatively good benefits package and good compensation. In working for Myspace, it is good to be part of industry leader. As employees, we have access to emerging technologies and processes, often ahead of our competitors (our favorable position with Microsoft technologies, for one).

Cons

There are too many politics. Many executives are "territiorial" about their own domains and reluctant to foster open communication across other verticals or subject matter areas. There is often a lack of inter-departmental information sharing. And often not a company-wide cohesion of teams.
