Pros

Great products and solutions for the industry.

Cons

The organization does not invest in training the way most organizations do. There is a boot camp that is two weeks in Lake Oswego, Oregon, however, the trainer is very condescending and has a "know-it-all" attitude. The trainer also comes from a failed personal business venture prior to NAVEX (which was self admitted, not solicited). Furthermore, advancement opportunities are few and far between. There are a lot of jobs that are just handed to people in the Oregon office, without the job being posted to website. There is no management training program in place so if you are seeking to advance and have great leadership, you won't get that here. I overheard, personally, a co-worker ask a VP what training program was coming down the pipeline for management and it was mentioned that the new managers were given a book to read. That wasn't a joke or alternative fact. I witnessed it personally.

I’m sorry to read about your 1-star experience. We will be sharing the results of the second Employee Engagement Survey soon, so please stay tuned. Also, I’m happy to advise that our Manager of Organizational Learning & Development is currently working with the pilot training group for a management training seminar. These types of initiatives are important and are a part of how we continue to strengthen our culture as we grow our business.

Pros

Team is great.

Cons

No room to advance and substandard pay. If you are at the top of the salary range they set for you there is no room for advancement or raises. This leaves no incentive to work hard, improve or learn.

Depending on the department, some of our positions have clearly delineated potential for advancement and for others it could be more open. However, all NAVEX Global employees can benefit from our growth. Ours is a learning environment and we pride ourselves on being an organization where entry-level or experienced employees have the opportunity to excel and take on new challenges. Furthermore, it is NAVEX Global’s goal is to ensure we are competitive within the market with regard to pay, commensurate with experience.

Pros

Management doesn't really micro-manage, primarily because they have so much on their plates. Employees care and are usually willing to drop what they're doing to assist. You have the ability to run your business and manage your calendar how you see fit which is nice. The PTO policy is relaxed.

Cons

Compensation is well below market and industry standards across the board. It's pretty embarrassing and it's obvious NAVEX really has no interest in fairly compensating their employees. The company was recently purchased by a private equity firm and this has suppressed raises but compensation was terrible before the acquisition. Pay is roughly 30-50% below market rate for a similar role in the software industry. There is little to no interest in rewarding/keeping top talent or developing some sort of career path (the organization is very flat). The compensation would be one thing if the benefits (medical, work from home policy, etc.) made up for the gap but unfortunately the benefits may be worse. Turnover is constant and management doesn't seem concerned, employees are viewed as replaceable and just part of the machine. Really bright and productive employees leave the organization for better opportunities on a consistent basis.

We have reviewed compensation metrics in our area and our industry, and we are not seeing the 30-50% pay difference that you noted above. We agree the pay for performance philosophy is helpful to our team members, and we have that model in place, under which we provide performance awards to our employees based on their merits. With regard to developing a career path, we have had 74 people promoted to new roles thus far in 2015 to support their career growth. That being said, I am hoping you will reach out to your manager or HR to address where you learned the original data you provided so we can correct those souces. We would also be happy to work with you to identify a career path and what next steps might be.
