Pros
One Medical focuses on the patient experience. They put a lot of effort in to this and it is appreciated by the patients that are seeking this out. Their philosophy attracts a specific patient population looking for more of a 'bougie' medical experience. One Medical attempts to utilize up to date technological services for our patients (i.e. app).
Cons
One Medical is ran by a handful of people in leadership and their beliefs and desires are trickled down through the chain. The focus is on patient experience and at times they seem to forget they are actually a medical clinic. If you question or offer alternatives to any of their practices, work flows, etc they will quickly conclude that you are 'not a good fit' and you will quickly be targeted. Upper leadership wants everyone else to be their robots. They put people in 'leadership' positions that have absolutely no experience. There are physicians or physician assistants straight out of residency that are Office Medical Directors. People in their 20's with no experience are Office Managers. This works well for upper management to be able to pay less and have more likelihood to be able to use these people in leadership positions merely as middle man to relay their messages. The leadership you directly report to is typically very inexperienced and this was very concerning for several reasons. One Medical does not put as much focus on medical care as they do the patient experience. You will have to explain any rating from a patient that is 8/10. They fluff numbers and presentations of quality medical numbers to their partnered affiliations. I experienced safety issues while working there which One Medical blatantly lied about. They hire as little as possible to cut corners. Every position there has way too much on their plate. Admins are overwhelmed with tasks. Phlebs take on several roles. Physicians have to get their own vitals, give vaccines, collect and run labs, get ekgs, clean rooms, etc. This all adds up, no one is working at the top of their capabilities, and leads to burn out. I have seen a very high turnover there but One Medical does not seem to care.
