Pros

Endless opportunities if you're willing to challenge yourself. If you're a gogetter, this is your place to work. Coworkers are fun to talk to, leadership has a genuine interest in employee wellbeing.

Cons

Playing some catch up on process improvement and documentation due to the recent fast growth and it sometimes creates confusion and lack of transparency on responsibilities. If you're not gifted with an entrepreneurial spirit it may be difficult to navigate between challenges and opportunities. The benefits could be better, I've seen better packages - but not bad at all.

Change Is Coming

Pros

Good benefits and PTO, amazing colleagues for the most part, flexible work environment

Cons

Meeting culture, only one division really getting any attention (Core), in-fighting among management seems apparent, leadership at the top seems to only promote selectively from people they like. People they don’t like seem to get fired for no cause. Lots of external hiring rather than promoting from within. The only real career path is for junior colleagues… experienced and tenured people have no place to go. Dead end job, basically, if you’re in the Risk Division and at any sort of “senior” title today (this exists across the organization, it would seem.) External hires bring little value, hired potentially only for their pedigree and are lazy leaders who do not embody the roll-up-your-sleeves mentality of the same people who started when the company was much smaller.

Toxic Aging Boy’s Club with Poor Leadership and No Moral Compass

Pros

Salary and benefits are moderate.

Cons

Gossipy, retaliatory, discriminatory culture. Sat in on a “Women of Origami” meeting once where the HR lead advised everyone they needed to work many more hours than the paid 40, and the CEO informed them that they were in direct competition with each other while at the same time absurdly emphasizing a “work life balance”. Very much a “coffee is for closers” 90s-throwback culture, but no clear path to success. Led by white aging men, with the occasional token female thrown in. Very little diversity.

Pros

Good work-life balance, good benefits, not a lot of stress. Management is understanding and open to change. Code base is complex so there is a steep learning curve, but the work is not that complicated

Cons

Company is growing fast, so there is lots of change, but not necessarily in a bad way

Pros

Leadership is transparent; communicates often to entire team. Flexible work arrangements for office, hybrid or fully remote. Many great people leaders. Good perks.

Cons

No shortage of work on client implementations, sometimes span of control too large or leaders spread thin, and there are instances of people who should not be current roles/don't perform to their level

Pros

Origami is a great place to work as far as colleagues, overall leadership, business objectives, benefits, etc. The culture among coworkers is very conducive and encourages you to stretching your legs and pushing to achieving more in your role. I was able able to join with a competitive pay for my experience, but haven't gone through a full year review cycle yet.

Cons

Origami is growing at a really fast rate to keep up with the demand of building out their solution and growing markets, so growing pains can be expected. That said, all pain points that have been identified in my time are also being actively addressed. The company is lead and studded by experienced Origami colleagues who drive the culture and keep objectives in line.
