Pros
I am largely dissatisfied with Polaris, and it is helpful to know that there are other people on the floor who feel roughly the same way. The management is not particularly helpful or encouraging, but at least the grunts are hard workers, giving a sense of community that almost makes the job tolerable.
Cons
Number one on the list would be mismanagement of resources. Many workers scramble around tirelessly because there is more work to be done than can reasonably be accomplished by the current staff. It is also a constant struggle to maintain supplies; as soon as one essential element of a test is fully stocked, we run out of another, grinding production to a standstill. Number two is the management's lack of interest in communicating with techs. Everyone knows how things should ideally work in the lab, but every day brings new and unique challenges that supervisors cannot understand if they sit in their offices all day. Number three: I'm not getting paid enough. Earlier in the year, I got a positive performance review and a 15 cent raise. The current economy can be blamed for a lot of things, but not worker compensation at Polaris. It would be understandable if volume had decreased, but that's not the case; it's risen.
