Very shady company

Pros

None, absolutely none whatsoever. Nope, nada, zilch.

Cons

Incredibly disorganized company with shady business practices. They will charge a client for managed services and a separate professional service and then have the managed service engineers perform the professional service during the time that the client is paying for them to be doing the managed service work. This is effectively double-billing and is a terrible thing to do to a customer. Management employs double-standards with just about everything and makes up policies on the fly. And they don't care one bit about professional growth and development for their employees beyond "here, take on more responsibility for the same pay because it will make you look good". Oh, and if you're going to resign, don't even think about trying to be nice and giving any more notice than the standard two weeks. I made that mistake and they repaid my courtesy by preventing me from using my remaining vacation and not compensating me for it. HR will not support you on that matter.

Pros

-You will learn skills to help you advance to better careers. -Great starting point but not somewhere you want to stay for long.

Cons

-Unhelpful, unethical and non-trustworthy HR department(Though this could be said for a lot of the upper management too). It is impossible to get into contact with them and they are always losing documents on a regular basis that are faxed from doctors or other important items. - No work/life balance like they advertise. Most high volume departments to not even really give you much of a break and you are expected to work overtime to me client goals which will always come first. - No care for employees mental or physical health unless you are working in Human Resources. - Really Terrible Health Care and Benefits - Absolutely Terrible Maternity Leave Policy - Rampant Bullying within certain departments from all levels and nothing is done about it. - EXTREMELY POOR COMMUNICATION in all areas. Especially when it comes to fixing problems, health issues, bullying, or making sure important paperwork has gotten to HR. - Very little advancement for good employees who get worked to death with extra assignments trying to prove they deserve the promotion. Promotions are given to those who don't deserve them. - Very young kids are promoted to Manager positions with ego issues who take them out on their employees below them. -You will usually not get the vacation time you ask for, or will be asked to come in on it to meet numbers. -You will also be passive aggressively forced to come in even when you are very sick to work and meet numbers. You are nothing more then a cog in a large machine here and very replaceable. The only thing that matters here is that you meet the contract needs of the client so they don't take their business elsewhere. This is a good place to start but don't stay their long and always be on guard. Keep copies of every interaction on email or chat, keep screenshots and proof because they will losing things and go back on their words.

Pros

Overall Pomeroy is a better than average company to work for. Outside of medical, the benefits for full-time employees are pretty decent. The main campus has a casual dress code, an onsite gym, a walking trail and the PTO benefits are comparable to other companies of the same size. The majority of the employees are great to work with, there is a sense of a true team atmosphere in most departments.

Cons

The medical benefits are the bare minimum required by the Affordable Care Act; while the bi-weekly deductions are low from your paycheck, the deductibles are high and medications can get very expensive with no co-pays. Pomeroy also compensates employees below the averages for their field. Recent changes in management of the IT department have developed a team of managers that like to rule by intimidation, yelling at employees for trivial mistakes, treating employees like children, watching every minute on the clock to be sure you are at your desk at the time they deemed you should be there even though the majority of the team were hired as salaried employees with flex time. If you're lucky enough to be a favorite you've got nothing to worry about. If they've decided they don't like you, you're expendable, but don't worry too much, they'll offer to help you write your resume so you can find a new job that will suit you better. Tenure, loyalty to the company, hard work and dedication seem to mean nothing to this management team. They will lie straight to your face and work on getting you out the door as fast as they can, even if they have to make up infractions to do it. There are several openings in the department right now, I would not recommend joining this team to anyone currently seeking employment. Pomeroy's company slogan for the last several years has been "Pomeroy is the Place to Be", but to this management team everyone is expendable. How is that promoting a team that anyone would want to be a part of?
