Pros

See lots of reviews from people working on board the ships but seems things are very different at shore-ops. 9/80 work schedule is convenient, if you do not have to come in to work to catch up, sick time and vacation are good.

Cons

Management has no idea where the company is headed as if they do, they would not have lost so many honest hard working long time employees in the last few months. Constant re-orgs and hiring of temporary staff causes considerable confusion. Everyone including upper management joke about the poor pay, benefits are not better than any other company out there. There is constant mistrust, "clicks" among groups and a very counterproductive work culture. Employees are not taken care of, they have been told by management to "leave if they do not like the place".

Pros

Lots of supportive, knowledgeable co-workers & front-line managers. Decent 401-K plan. Available 9/80 schedule.

Cons

Low pay. Medical/dental benefits have limited options and high cost to employees. Shoreside departments are kept understaffed, with constantly increasing workloads. Frequent reorgs, often accompanied by more staff reductions. IT support is mediocre and getting worse-again, largely due to understaffing. Clueless senior executives obstruct their staff members by withholding information, procrastinating and second-guessing on decisions and mandating last-minute changes to project specifications.

Pros

Discrimination throughout the company as well as it's parent (Holland)

Cons

For IT, they only will hire Contractors initially, very seldom do they do a direct hire for a role. When you get in there your resources are going to be very, very limited. They are using antiquated tech with a outsourced call center for support with no luck gaining access. They very top heavy and no one knows what the other person is doing. The top IT people mange IT was like a dictatorship. As a contractor I needed certain resources in order to do my job. Simple IT stuff like spinning up a sandbox and heap grade for an on-prem server. It took weeks before they would give me access to their environment. The top IT person sat me down and the first thing he said was "do you know who I am." I looked at him and thought "I don't care who you are" but respectfully I let him know that I did and that I what needed in order to complete the IT work. Approximately a week later (after that conversation) I was terminated from my contract. All because I kicked the tired and was trying to do what I was hired to do... Hardly anyone there spoke fluent English and was frowned upon if you did. I felt Discriminated against the entire that I was there. It was felt Discrimination both both among my peers and from the executive level. I'm not sure about the cruises lines but do not work for anything related to their Princess Cruise lines Tech Department.
