Quantity over quality mindset

Pros

Great field with amazing clients

Cons

Quality is absolutely lacking. They opened a new center last year, while ours didn’t even have an in-house BCBA for several months. (No, a BCBA coming in once a weeks does not count as consistent). We did have a remote BCBA who would call in for supervision and that was “technically” meeting insurance requirements. Our RBTs were amazing and hard-working but were often treated unfairly. If a morning client doesn’t arrive on time and later calls to cancel, they are not allowed to even clock in while waiting, sent home without any compensation, and expected to turn around a return for the afternoon session. The RBTs are treated as though they are incompetent while simultaneously expected to take on additional responsibilities that aren’t appropriate for the job. So many employees are new to the work force and its truly unfortunate how unaware they are of what is okay in a work force vs what should absolutely never be tolerated. Turnover is fairly high, about six or seven employees leaving the past year at our center alone- most of them due to increased involvement from the District Director. Some time last fall, one of the centers lost roughly half of their employees because they were upset with how things were running. In addition, it is difficult to leave due to an extremely restrictive non-compete clause- you would be giving up the field entirely for at least 18 months if you decided to move on. I hate having to say this, but it needs to be said: If you’re a man, I do NOT suggest applying for the Beaufort or St Marys centers. I know for a fact that the District Director has explicitly stated that she is wary of hiring men because of a previous experience.

We want to thank you for the time you spent working with us and serving our families. Opening a new clinic is something that takes months of planning and we could not anticipate a Team Member leaving from another clinic at the same time as opening the doors to another. Lucky for us, we are able to provide additional BCBA support through our various leadership positions for if and when a situation like this occurs. One of our 2019 goals has been to focus on Team Member Retention. We strongly understand the value of our Team Members and are continuing to recognize areas for improvement. Although these improvements take time to thoroughly plan and implement, we are listening and communicating our values to our Team Members by recognizing when changes need to be made. We pride ourselves on providing high quality services to our clients. Unfortunately, we do recognize that the motivation and engagement of each individual Team Member may not always align with our values and mission. We encourage every single Team Member to use the resources of mentors, HR, and our anonymous reporting option for concerns of ethical, compliance and/or quality concerns. We are motivated to recruit and retain the top talent in our field by providing continuous professional development opportunities for our Team Members. When providing this high-quality professional development, we need to ensure that the Team Members are dedicated to investing back into the lives of the families we serve every day. It would be unfair to our families to provide such high-quality training to a Team Member who decided to leave and take those skills to another provider and family, leaving our families without any services. We are highly transparent about tuition and/or supervision agreements we require from our Team Members, as they relate to our benefits. Team Members are encouraged to ask any and all questions before endorsing any agreement. Reaching Milestones is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all individuals without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender, national origin, age, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or any other characteristics protected by law.

Growing Company, Meaningful Work, & Team/Family Culture

Pros

Growing company, rewarding and meaningful work, team-focused, effective training, and team support in a clinical setting. This company is always looking at ways to make improvements for clients and team members. Team members are passionate about clients and really care about the work they do. Professional and Ethical standards are high. There is much opportunity for growth in clinical positions. Training opportunities are continuous and available.

Cons

Implementing change can be slow, but the company has the right intentions and continues to progress . The hourly pay for entry level positions was on the lower end, but the company recently increased the hourly rate for these positions and also offers a full benefits package to include PTO, tuition reimbursement and 401K for full-time team members. A well thought out career advancement path for administrative positions would be beneficial as the company continues to grow.
