Pros

Potential raises every six months

Cons

After working for over two years here, the company has lost its grip on culture. You'll constantly be motivated to go the extra mile, but then you start to realize that every department is overworked and understaffed. Management will tell you to focus on quality of work but in reality they only pay attention to quantity. Everyone is too busy to care about how you feel, and it's not uncommon for you to get stressed and eventually on the verge of burnout. Serious issues are not being resolved because management has upper management breathing down their necks.

Pros

I met some of my favorite people working at this company.. trauma bonding? Maybe. But top notch colleagues. You learn a lot too. Variety of customers, use cases, and tool sets.. so you get acclimated to the cyber industry fairly quickly.

Cons

ReliaQuest will break you emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. They promote healthy culture of a hybrid work schedule and unlimited PTO. But you get shamed for working remote, you’re monitored when you clock in and clock out (very big brother-y), and shamed if you god forbid want to take a vacation because that’s not ”top performer” mentality. You’re made to feel that work comes before anything else or you won’t make it and you can’t be successful. If you have a family or plan to start a family do not work here… the expectation is that work comes first. If you’re a top performer you’re treated like gold.. until you have a bad quarter or need any flexibility in your schedule that wouldn’t allow work to come first. Then youre gone and irrelevant. You can work elsewhere and get just as good exposure into cyber, with better pay, better career opportunities, and most importantly…. Respect and mental stability. Trust me.

SOC Life is Rough.

Pros

Good people because when everyone suffers, it’s bonding. Good pay, but you’ll work hours that make it less than competitive. Free food on Fridays…

Cons

The turnover rate is huge for SOC analysts. Leaders don’t educate SOC Analysts, you educate yourself. Our education beyond entry training is very lax. RQ doesn’t invest in the continued education of their SOC Analysts as they already know they’ll burn out and leave. Feedback is biased and absolutely subjective. Management uses a lot of carrot and stick motivation tactics. This becomes obvious within the first 3 months. SOC culture is suffering. With turnover comes a loss of culture. Turnover won’t change. Hours won’t change. It is what it is, a SOC. You’ll see job ads that have remote work that often offers greater technical achievement than this role can. The Analyst work isn’t that fulfilling. You’ll work alerts that customers never respond to or fail to action in a timely manner. Your impact is minimum. You will feel tired on and off the clock. Salaried but should be hourly (only salaries because they couldn’t afford hourly people, it’s a SOC). Product they are pushing is hard to believe in. Salaried but you are expected to be there during set times and if you complete your work early you’ll still be there until the end time.
