It's something of an open secret that the founder and CEO is a bully and exhibits many narcissistic tendencies. All the toxicity and unethical behavior flows down and outwards from there. If an employee is lucky, they'll avoid direct contact with the CEO. Unlucky employees -- mostly directors and product people -- must learn to numb themselves to weekly meetings that often involve the CEO yelling at employees, being nasty, and arbitrarily banning the use of words and phrases that accurately describe the reality of projects, customer needs, or their lived experiences. Of course, even if an employee is not experiencing these horrors directly, they will no doubt be harmed by the delusion and magical thinking once that all rolls downhill. For example: layoffs. They happen covertly and you may hear from your manager that someone was let go due to "economic" reasons. The laid-off person will understand the same thing. But if pressed, leadership will say any terminations were due to the performance of the employee -- and not because the business is struggling. Gaslighting at its finest. Some long-term employees have made peace with the abuse. But it's not for everybody. Google "When Your Boss Doesn’t Care About Doing the Right Thing" if you need another opinion -- I only wish I had read this before joining. Don't say I didn't warn you!

- TERRIBLE senior leadership. I have no idea what the vision is for the company, no idea what the priorities are at any given moment. - It seems like all the leadership cares about how to hit our numbers so they aren't embarrassed at the next board meeting - Most of the revenue just comes from people forgetting to cancel their memberships. This says a lot about this company right there and its values (or lack thereof) - Most of the engineering team is remote in Mexico or Europe where it's cheaper to hire engineers. I have heard from PMs (and can only imagine) that this makes product development extremely hard. - CEO is extremely arrogant, condescending, does not listen to others, terrible leader and not a visionary in any way.
