IT NEVER GETS BETTER

Pros

Easy to make Friends at SPS.

Cons

- We were told our compensation was competitive by HR. One month later instead of paying us competitively, they demoted our titles and still expected us to do the same jobs. They told us we were being paid on average 96% of the market average. Now in order to maintain that statistic, they have demoted 100s of employees titles so they can continue to claim 96%. -They say there are a lot of changes and things will get better. I've been here over 3 years and I'm still waiting for it to get better.... -There are a lot of broken promises to keep people in their current positions. People were given made up titles and after the market review they were demoted back to where they started....only to find out they still were not being paid the market average

Pros

-The best part of this company is the environment they've created and the talent they've hired. You work alongside bright people (young and old; fairly similar age range within positions) who you easily build relationships with -Great company functions -Easy to talk with and to upper management

Cons

These cons pertain to the Operations Department (they may have changed the department title to Customer Success or Customer Operations, but I wouldn't know since they don't communicate well): -They consistently execute internal plans that fail -They offer low pay that isn't competitive against comparable positions at other companies -They tell you that something will happen, but then something different actually happens without communication or explanation -Overall poor communication -Empty promises are often made -They don't value hard work or team leadership -They don't compensate well for demonstrated expertise within the position -They expect you to take on additional responsibility without any prior training

Thanks for your feedback and advice. As we have grown over the past few years, it has become ore difficult to keep the lines of communication as open and natural as they were when we were small. Our Global Voices survey also pointed out the need for better communications so we are working on this at the department and company levels. Please, if you have specific ideas, bring them to your manager or HR. We want to continually improve in this area.

Strategic Account Executive

Pros

- great for newer professionals or people looking to start in sales - if you have the right territory, you could be setup to do very well - accelerates for high performers provide a substantial income increase opportunity - depending on your manager, you can have great working flexibility - when management wants something done, it get's done - in-bound leads can produce quick wins

Cons

- Inconsistent compensation between reps. You are given a Personal Commission Rate that indicates how much you get paid on a sale. i.e. 10% = $.10 on every dollar sold. You can have people in the same role making anywhere from 9%-20% Personal Commission Rate. - Reps with more experience who efficiently sell at a higher rate are penalized with a lower Personal commission rate - you get paid the exact same on up-selling current customers as you do net new business - limited motivation to find new business - no promotion avenues. Once you are a Strategic Account Executive, there is no path to increasing you base income - territories were created by a magical algorithm that has proven to be a complete disaster. There is no parity in territories - you have some that produce well and others that are complete waste land. - implementation is unable to meet customer expectations as they are under staffed and working with archaic tools that make them inefficient - billing department is unable to reproduce consistent information on how/why clients are being billed OR they are just not billed at all - marketing has basically been shooting at the wrong target for a couple years. It does not support sales in an effective manner, nor is it efficient.
