Pros

This place is a nice environment to work in, they care about their employees (for the most part) and there is a lot of support from my supervisor.

Cons

Somewhat micromanaged; there isn’t a whole lot of freedom or room for suggestions.

Thank you for your very positive review. We are glad you enjoy your role and the positive work you do with Nystrom. Thanks for making the comment that the environment is nice and that you can tell and notice that we do care about each of our employees. Wonderful hearing too that you're getting the support from your supervisor that you need. We are very open to suggestions to keep improving. Feel free to contact me directly and I can assure you, the decision makers regarding policy will gladly hear any concerns or suggestions and consider anything that help provide better care to our patients or supports our employees. Feel free to contact me at 651-379-1774, and I would love to chat with you about your ideas. Thanks, Tony

Pros

I love working here. The support staff are amazing and so knowledgeable. They are kind and compassionate with patients and make the job of doing therapy so much more enjoyable. The atmosphere here at Coon Rapids location is like a family. Everyone makes themselves available to help and encourage each other. Nystrom offers everything I need as a new therapist, I receive supervision and CEUs. Additionally Nystrom and Associates provides ongoing training to ensure all staff are highly trained. I could not have landed in a better position that right here.

Cons

I wish I could work more that 40 hours per week. But they are probably preventing burn-out.

Thank you for writing your review and explaining why you love working for Nystrom & Associates! We appreciate your feedback. I think those who read these Glassdoor reviews will appreciate knowing all the support we provide to our staff to help them succeed and love the work that they do. We are very focused on initial and ongoing training for all of our staff and we feel good knowing that you feel very supported with that. If you would like to work more than 40 hours per week, please contact Tony Rosenberg to discuss this. Would be very happy to talk about that. Thank you.

Company culture is poor

Pros

Monotonous work: easy to talk to patients and medical associates; company celebratory occasions.

Cons

Micromanagement: Individuals are advised to meet with superiors on quarterly basis to review performance. Said individuals are then told to take notes and email superiors about what was discussed in the meeting (to ensure the individual was listening, etc.) This is a lazy method for superiors to keep tabs on employees' performance. Other similar workplaces would have superiors do this themselves. Taking notes might also apply during small group meetings where employees are called on randomly to see who was paying attention and can call out the right answer. It comes across as very degrading and hierarchical. It is also encouraged of said individuals to not reveal to the person they are speaking with on the phone that they have reached a call center, as patients do not like to think their needs have been reduced to a separate location. Policies: In the employee handbook it outlines a gossip-free work environment. The place is anything but gossip-free as those who work there the longest chat about anything and everything, including everyone: current and former. Upon my exit, someone I know said the only company that would create a gossip-free policy is one that doesn't want any of its employees criticizing their policies, so that's why it's put there.

Thank you for writing your review about your experience as an employee. We appreciate you saying that you enjoyed the company celebrations and get-togethers/picnics. We highly value these as well. It allows for a nice opportunity for our staff to get better connected with each other and is wonderful for team building. We are sorry to hear that you feel as if you were micromanaged. Most of our staff appreciate the quarterly meetings with their supervisors for support and training. We are dedicated to ensuring that all of our staff get the support they need to not only excel in their job, but also have a good time and getting a feeling of accomplishment when they do it. While we know that not all management styles fit everyone, we usually try to accommodate. I am not sure if you mentioned to your supervisors or Human Resources about your concerns with the meetings you mentioned in your review? We hold our staff accountable for the work that they do and we do ask staff (in our call center) to keep notes about their meetings. It’s not because our supervisors are, as you say “lazy”, it’s because we think that employee’s taking notes that are meaningful to them are better than a written summary that was created by someone else (the supervisor). We do this to empower our employees, not micromanage them. Most of our staff appreciate this. It’s our understanding that most companies in the U.S. have a Gossip Free Workplace policy. We have one as well to ensure that staff are working in a comfortable work environment and one that is free from toxic rumors. Our Gossip Free policy does not prohibit staff from talking about concerns or dissatisfaction about any company policies. In fact, it encourages staff to have discussions with appropriate personnel (such as direct supervisors or HR). We appreciate hearing feedback from current employees about any concerns or dissatisfaction with any policies so that we can help them succeed in their position. We also value transparency so feel free to come forward and discuss any concerns you have directly with us.
