Extremely toxic and hostile

Pros

The Benefits and bonus are strong.

Cons

The majority of leaders (people managers) are not suited to lead people and resort to insanely toxic tactics to compensate for their incompentance. Micro management reigns supreme. HR is deeply broken. Forget anonymity. In fact, if you have an issue to report, expect HR to go directly to your boss and start gossiping about you to others. Seniors leaders do not inspire and have do not have any sense of vision. They just execute on what Korea HQ tells them to do. Zero career development. Work from home days are tracked and typically cannot exceed 2 per month. Zero trust in employees. The best talent leaves within 2 years, so at this point the only people left are in many cases damaged goods - manipulative, poor management skills, and deeply entrenched in office politics. Too many more to mention.

Thank you for your honest feedback. We understand the severity of your concerns and, since you are a current employee with SEA, we recommend that you reach out to your HR Business Partner in order to address your concerns directly. As a global organization, our environment is extremely busy and dynamic, but we understand that employees need time to recharge as well. Our team is enhancing our work-life balance initiatives through additions to our Flex Programs, which increase the work from home time you mentioned and provide employees with greater flexibility. These initiatives are open to all and we strongly recommend our employees take advantage of them. – Your People Experience Team

Pros

decent benefits, subsidized healthcare, decent cafeteria with subsidized lunch

Cons

Toxic culture and Extreme Politics masquerading as Meritocracy, Incompetent people promoted to VP and Director level based on relationships; if you don't speak Korean and end up here, don't consider staying more than a year or two; no real decision-making power in American HQ

Do not even think about working here

Pros

Flexible schedule, sometimes get to use new technology, travel

Cons

Samsung internalized their FSM team in 2018. In June 2019 they laid off about 30% of the field team. Now there are talks about another lay off as well as moving the field team back to third party companies in January 2020. There is no consistency with the management here as district managers pick and choose what rules their teams abide by. We were sent a "look ahead" schedule for November and December at the end of September. The last week of October they changed up November and when asked about plans that were already made district managers were telling the FSM's that they had to cancel plans. FSM and DM positions are looking elsewhere to work. I have never worked for a company that had so many people constantly looking for new jobs at different levels. We are told we are sales managers when we do not make commission. They change our bonus requirements every quarter a month into the quarter so we cannot maximize what we make. We have no control over our lives. Samsung wants you to live 24/7 for them. We are asked to do admin work at home but not given a day or time to do so. Our leadership were all outside hires from a failing Best Buy program. Besides the upcoming layoffs I do not EVER recommend working for Samsung. I cannot wait to leave.
