Pros

Select colleagues are great to work with.

Cons

Where do I start? Stay away from US Programs. Dismissive, controlling, and selfish management Constant fire drills - everything is urgent and must be completed immediately with limited support which means you’ll be burned out in no time No communication of vision or priorities Rampant nepotism Zero organization or ability to execute even basic projects Poor alignment with STC International No integrity when it comes to inflating stories of impact and reach - don’t believe the numbers because someone made them up No support from HR even when reaching out with serious concerns Funding and grants processes are ridiculously and needlessly complicated Finances are not tracked well; little transparency People creating processes that don’t understand what is actually needed Talented people are leaving right and left Constantly adding more bandaids to big problems and being surprised that we are still bleeding out People trying to improve things will be reprimanded instead of supported Certain problems that are being ignored could lead to legal risk down the line Culture is cold and insular depending on what team you are on Budget cuts! They hired too fast and now they’re in trouble. Don’t expect to stay too long. Not that you’ll want to anyway.

Pros

The work they do is truly incredible; so many children are assisted through their programs!

Cons

I'm not sure about the other offices, but the DC office was a total disaster. The leadership treats "junior" staff like utter trash, they refuse to let people speak up without retaliating against them, they are snarky/rude. I left Save the Children in 2019, and have joined another organization. I just want to say, I am finally at peace and realize how toxic that environment was for my health and overall wellbeing.

You've got our attention. NO employer likes to hear the words "traumatic" and "toxic" about our work culture, and if we can, we want to do something about it. If you haven't shared your feedback with a member of our HR staff, we are still open to speaking with you. You can reach out to me directly by emailing tferrett@savechildren.org... your feedback can help us do better!

Cons

Overly beaurocratic ans hierarchical- Too many priorities - Save does anything and everything which makes it hard to do anything well or have a clear focus.
