Harassment Rampant

Cons

Toxic environment with culture of harassment at every level. Narcissists are award with top positions and they become immune/protected from constructive criticism. I personally notified HR of several incidents of harassment from a top level person. They have not followed up with my reporting. This place is bad and getting worse.

Unethical Treatment of Employees

They give you the chance to work on mission driven projects

Cons

In effect, there are no real meaningful protections for employees. They have policies and procedures that benefit the organization at the complete disadvantage of the employee. Case in point: you could easily log 80+ hours in a week, travel or work two weekends in a row and receive NO comp time. All of this is at the discretion of the manager. Compensation is embarrassing and benefits don’t make up for the fact that many of us end up working for minimum wage after all is said and done.

Wow... you've got some real important things to share... have you taken a moment to share these concerns with your supervisor? HR? Our Ethics hotline? We have many means by which you can report concerns about ethics, and we need to know so we can do something. PLEASE consider reporting your concerns so they can be reviewed and addressed!

Burnout; Low-Pay; Disappointing Senior Management

The work is GRUELING. Much is expected and very little is rewarded. I don't know how anyone is able to have a family when you're traveling for weeks at a time with very little rest time in between. Salaries are truly abysmal. Senior management seems to be out of touch with reality, most likely because very few have any meaningful experience living and working abroad.

We're all doing all we can to accomplish our mission for children around the world, and this year was particularly hard on all of us with 3 Hurricane Responses at the same time, the Rohinga crisis, the Syria crisis, the East Africa crisis.... you get the point.
