Pros

1. Wonderful family-style environment. Kind of fitting that some of the employees are related. Legitimately makes you feel like you've joined a family, not a soulless corporation. 2. This is a growing company, it is very obvious that this company can make it pretty far if things keep going in the right direction. 3. It is a very organized work environment. The supervisors leave plenty of wiggle room for mistakes or extensions while maintaining a rigid date of completion. This creates a lax, in the moment, feel so that you're not stressing over projects and crying yourself to sleep about the workload of the next day. It is impossible not to fall in love with the people around you in the workplace.

Cons

1.) As previously stated, this is a small, growing company. It provides many opportunities but can't provide the pay that an extremely qualified employee might deserve. This is an understandably upsetting quality. 2.) The small, home-style space provides exactly what is necessary to create high school-esque drama and isn't exactly something that is easy for the upper management to eliminate. Little rumors can circulate and fester, but there are bad eggs in every company. It's hard to escape. Just a little harder in a small company

Thank you for your review & thank you for joining the family! We are a small business growing fast. The quick growth is a challenge in and of itself. Unfortunately one of the challenges is to offer a competitive starting salary that qualified employees deserve. Although this is a challenge, the company does its best to increase the salaries fairly often. Another great point in your review is management’s inability to eliminate the drama and rumors. This can be an issue at any company. At Scriptilabs we have done a fairly good job at weeding out the younger staffed employees that have caused the drama. The company improves daily as we continue to staff a more experienced and talented team. In no way do any of the past employees impact ownership in a negative way or as you put “get in our head”. Scriptilabs sales team is the best it has ever been, administration is best it has ever been, the development team is off the charts with talent, project coordination team is improving daily, and the internet marketing team has a great supervisor in place and working towards continued growth for its clients. We will take your advice, keep up the good work, and do our best to work on the things that you feel needs improvement.

“Amazing Opportunity!”

Pros

This really is my Pros and Cons together as the Pros to working at this company outweighs the Cons: * Very Organized – In the early days, everybody had to wear a lot of hats. That is just how a startup works. Some of that meant that employees had to do jobs that weren’t even closely related. What I have noticed is that as the company grows it is allowing for specialization to slowly take hold. ScriptiLabs is a highly organized company with plenty of opportunity for upward mobility as the company continues to grow and expand its services. The internal processes are polished and hold their employees accountable and still allow for plenty of time for administrative tasks. * Improved Hiring Practices and Corporate Hierarchy - I was very concerned with the hiring practices at first. It was so bad that I almost left the company. Especially when they started hiring friends of friends. Management asked me to stay and to give it time…and I did. The biggest problem that I had with the hiring practices was in regards to how young ScriptiLabs was hiring. At one point (2013 to Q1 2014) I would estimate that close to 50% of the company was below the age of 25. There isn’t anything necessarily wrong with hiring young, but you have to balance it out with leadership or chaos is bound to ensue...and it did. Couple that with a lack of accountability in the early days and you have a recipe for disaster when you do finally have to hold people accountable. Within the past six months, that has all changed and I couldn’t be happier about it. There are now knowledgeable supervisors in place in every department and ownership is slowly starting to pull away leaving the experts to get the job done. One thing that I’ve noticed is that they are hiring very high level developers that have been in the industry for a long time and truly know how software development is supposed to work. This is very encouraging! * Increased Salaries – When this company first started, the salaries were very close to poverty level. I’m not even kidding. However, that is what a startup is all about, right? It was actually a fun time to be a part of the team despite the low pay. I believed in management and it has paid off nicely for me and I know that is the case for others as well. What I know is that salaries have increased in general as their business has grown. My salary is almost double what it was when I first started. * Benefits – Because this company was bootstrapped, benefits are still lagging. I’m definitely starting to see some signs of improvement here. They have just established a Fun & Benefits committee that meets monthly and comes up with ideas on how to have fun while also addressing the priority for benefits. * Considerate but Demanding Management – Don’t try to work at ScriptiLabs if you are looking for a “chill” job. There is no place to hide. They will hold you accountable but will make certain you are growing and learning at the same time. I’ve never had any issue with management treating me with a lack of respect or any different because I am a female. They are fair, courteous and care about their employees both inside and outside of the business. * Work/Life Balance – ScriptiLabs is very conscious of making sure you don’t burnout. The PTO is around 8 full days the first year…which isn’t all that great. However, it goes to 12 full days in year two and 15 days in year three. The normal ScriptiLabs workdays are only 7.5 hours long. The CEO is a Stage IV cancer survivor so life outside of work is important to him. Having said that, there are still crunch times where we might get a little more work than we can handle during the normal work hours and everybody might work a little bit over to get over the hump. This is rare and only happens every few months. Most employees don’t mind at all as they are rarely asked to work additional time. * Overall Momentum – ScriptiLabs has gone from one employee when it was acquired to almost twenty employees. Management might not understand development all that well but there aren’t many companies that have grown at this rate on a bootstrapped budget. They are now starting to get into CRM integration which will open up an entirely new market segment to them. The infrastructure is in place to scale and the marketing of this company is just now starting to hit its stride.

Pros

- Flexability! Unlike a corporate job where you are just another number, this small business allows a lot of Flexability. They have worked so well with my schedule, I could not be more appreciative. As long as it shows that you're a hard worker, they really allow you a lot more wiggle room then most places. - Managment! As a growing business, the owners realized they needed more management in place. They have added experienced supervisors to every department. - Room to grow! The great thing about a start up company is the opportunity to grow with the company. - The Co-Workers! Everyone is so friendly. Also, lots of people to nerd out with, which is always a plus in my eyes! - Happy Hours! The owners do a great job at rewarding everyone who wants to join in on some fun at the end of the week. It is very pressure free if you don't want to drink either! They also do other events like taking employees to the movies so that everyone can always have a chance to partake in some fun. - Truly being a part of something! Once again, unlike a large corporation, every single person matters to this business. Contribution is needed from every member of the company and it is a wonderful feeling to know that everyone is so important to the success of the business. - Free Snacks! Need I say more? - The Weird Austin Vibe! - This company is perfect example of an Austin start up. The company is very welcoming to everyone! It has that Austin culture that is drawing so many people to Austin in the first place. - Learning! It's very obviously that the owners truly want to invest in their employees. It's a wonderful place to get a lot of experience.

Cons

- Training! Obviously, as a start up company it is impossible to have all the resources of a large company. There is no formal training program, but you cannot really expect one from a small company anyways. Luckily, everyone there is so nice and willing to help! Also, the owners are starting to working on putting something in place here. They are willing to take constructive criticism and are already taking steps to put more training in place.

Thank you for time to leave a review for Scriptilabs. We are glad you feel Scriptilabs is a wonderful environment to work in. It is a family owned business and it is important that each and every team member feels as if they are a part of the family. We realize that training is certainly one of our less developed processes. As a small company it does takes just a little longer to develop an efficient on boarding training program. Now that we have a supervisor hired in each department, which as in turn has lead to more structure, we are working diligently on providing a better training experience for new employees.
