Messed up, unfortunate culture

Pros

Good benefits, including public transportation pass and incentives to bike to work. Insurance coverage is good but not great. Really smart people and also some really good people who want to make a difference.

Cons

The culture is very much like high school - if a manager or director decides that you don't fit in, then your career is pretty much over at Seattle Children's. Job performance doesn't matter; you'll suddenly be labeled a problem employee and managers and directors will fabricate reasons about why you don't fit or deserve a promotion. This type of behavior is condoned by or at least goes unchecked with upper management and leadership.

Great colleagues, awful management culture

Pros

The organization is full of some of the best subject matter experts I've ever worked with and there are tons of people deeply committed to the mission of the organization.

Cons

The executive management culture has shifted to a profit seeking unethical morass that is a clone of any other midsize for profit corporation. If you'd like to see the McKinsey playbook in action look no further.

Pros

Great mission and research staff.

Cons

SCRI leadership is obsessed with implementing lean management and not addressing the real issues within the administrative side of the business. There are toxic bullies in leadership roles who are driving away the good employees.
