Pros

The organization name draws in very kind people who want to do good work. Most managers are very supportive of work life balance.

Cons

There is a strong culture that does not enforce accountability. Initiatives will be launched, with people just saying "no" they wont do it. This leaves most areas scattered with some staff following the initiatives and others not. Secondly, there is lack of role clarity for most jobs. Most employee's on-boarding involves the 'sink or swim' technique of jumping in without direction. There are no clear guidelines given as to what success looks like, and gaps in what is handled because it is 'someone elses job to do it.' You could ask dozens of people with the same job title what they do- and get a dozen different answers. This leaves people lost and confused about whether they are doing the work they should be doing-- let alone disappointed with performance evaluations

Pros

Pretty good health insurance, fair pay (very poor raises, though). Some very nice people work there. Hard to think of any other positives!

Cons

The management in my group was CRAZY -- and on its way down. Children's as an entity puts policy above the needs of their employees. Management is GENEROUSLY compensated, but cares very little for those attempting to support them. Traffic to the downtown locations is horrific. A lot of pressure to conform: no room for inspiration. Tons of "politics" in my group. Micromanagement.
