Excellent company culture

Pros

Sentinel has excellent company culture with leadership that has been involved since it's inception in 1982. When I originally interviewed, this was one of the things that was appealing for me. There are many individuals that have been with the company for 20 or 30+ years, which is a great indication for happy employees. This company has been great to work for and I would encourage any qualified technology or administrative professionals to explore Sentinel as a possibility as a career move.

Cons

As a sales professional there are some long hours at times in this position. However, if you want the ability to write your own paycheck with uncapped commission this could be a great fit.

Overworked and Under Appreciated

Pros

Great hands on expierence and great exposure to large projects. If you're just starting out in the Network industry this is a great place to grow.

Cons

There is a lot of favoritism within the organization. Not to mention the old boys club that has been mentioned before. If you're part of the club you'll get the raises and perks. If you're not, they will run you into the ground without any reviews or performance increases. Projects are not managed well and lots of disorganization. Its embarrassing to be on customer calls when something has been oversold or sold incorrectly. This seems to happen way to often, I'm surprised they're still in business. A lot of this has to do with management being to cheap or willing to fix problems.

Over Worked Without Relief

Pros

There are a lot of talented technical team members, project managers and other support staff that provide a great learning experience. Good for technical knowledge growth. The majority of typical employees are good people you enjoy seeing everyday. Excellent medical/dental benefits (coverage and premiums), and relatively fair pay (against the market).

Cons

There are the inner circle long-timers, then there are the rest of the employees. If you are not inside that circle, you feel expendable and less relevant. They will talk of improving things (such as work-life balance, headcount, promotions, bonuses), but then do not follow through. And unfortunately mediocre work seems to get the same rewards as people that work harder and better. Lots of people leaving right now.
