Pros

They offer flexible scheduling; if you're a student, then they will make a schedule around your classes. Offers excellent health and dental benefits to full-time employees, also offers PTO and flexible holiday hours for those who meet the required number of hours worked.

Cons

This company often issues mandatory time off, meaning that they will cut several hours off of your work schedule because "call volume is low." This means that if you're a fulltime employee promised 40hrs a week; you will only get about 35. Cutting these hours has nothing to do with metrics or performance; this is across the board. Other times the company will issue mandatory overtime, and you have no say in when these hours are scheduled to you. You could be scheduled to work two hours on one of your days off, or you might have an hour or two added before or after your regular shift. If these hours are missed, it is counted as a work schedule violation and will result in a warning. Repeat violations result in the separation of employment. If you miss work, either by calling out or are just a few hours late, your PTO time will be used to cover those hours, and this happens with or without your consent. Yes, you will lose PTO if you miss your shift for ANY reason. PTO is accrued based on the number of hours an employee works. If the company is issuing mandatory time off, then you will not meet the 40hr weekly requirement to accrue PTO. Training tends to be extremely poor. By the time the eight week training period is over, the tools you've learned very well may be obsolete. Call handling and escalation procedures can completely change in a few weeks after you begin taking calls. Lastly, the company will market this role as a Tier 2 Tech Support role, but in actuality, you are customer service. In this role, you will be expected to perform the role of salesperson, billing agent, retention agent, and whatever else they can try to tack on to your role. Your responsibilities may change or increase with no change in pay. There are no raises or promotions offered in this role.

Thank you for your feedback. As stated we do have both mandatory time off and mandatory extra hours based on business needs, attendance and overall performance of our employees. Regarding PTO, employees can earn 12 days of PTO and FH within the first year. While we do not support time off when you have accrued time, your PTO balance will be added to any time missed. We follow our client(s) training program and provide them with updates throughout the training period in an effort to partner for a better training experience. As an employer with 98% promotion from within, our opportunities for advancement are very fruitful for our employees. We do not hide the fact that our role has changed, we are now and have always been a customer service organization, making each customers experience the best. This includes identifying and offering new ways for the customer experience to improve and perhaps save our customers money. We are tech support and customer service bundled into an amazing experience for our customers! We wish you well in your new endeavors.

We are very open about our training requirements. Our program is a short 6 weeks, and we do require 100% attendance. This is not unusual for any employer. We are also very open about our pay structure, we want employees who understand our environment, and appreciate a pay-for-performance atmosphere. We wish you the best in your new endeavors.

Pros

The only pro I can honestly think of is that it is Work from Home.

Cons

Where to begin? First off, the pay is way too low for what is expected of you. When I worked there it was $9.50 plus $0.50 reimbursement per hour. The $0.50 is for using your own PC, internet, headset, etc. The trainers told us that since it is reimbursement, that it will not be taxed; this was just a straight up lie. They do not separate this pay from normal pay on your tax form. Next, the training period is ridiculously long for what you're taught. If you have any experience as a Customer Service or Tech Support rep, you will find the training an absolute boring four weeks, of which you get a reduced "training" pay rate (which is not mentioned in the job posting, conveniently). Once you're out of training, you get assigned to one of Support.com clients. These consist of large internet service providers, most of which have a bad reputation when it comes to customer satisfaction, so be prepared for angry customers a majority of the time. I have had years of experience in the Tech Support field, and I have to say I have never seen a more dysfunctional system as the one Support.com uses. Essentially, you have to use a program that tells you exactly what to say to the customer and what to ask next. You have very limited ability to do any actual troubleshooting. Need to reboot the customer's equipment? You need to go through the preset program until you get to the reboot step. Its frankly insulting to anyone who has even a tiny fraction of technical knowledge. Beyond that, when you get a customer that is so unhappy that they insist to speak to a supervisor, you are expected to reach out to one via an internal chat program. 90% of the time your initial message will be ignored by the managers on duty at the time. There were several times I had to sit on the line with livid customers for over half an hour waiting for a manager to respond. Keep in mind call time is a metric you are expected to keep down regardless of circumstances. Ironically, one of the managers that ignored me during one of those 30 minute calls later reprimanded me for spending so much time on that particular call. This is a common theme with management. They will provide you with awful systems, barebones guidance, near impossible performance goals, and then get everyone into a team meeting and reprimand you when the client complains about dropping customer satisfaction. You are also required to work mandatory overtime at standard pay rate. I have absolutely no idea how this is legal, but it happens. Every single week except one I was required to put in extra hours, often on weekends. All in all, this is a great place to work if you like being treated like dirt. For those looking for a good, competent, fun place to work, avoid Support.com like the plague.

Thank you for your feedback, however, what you have posted is extremely inaccurate. The .50 reimbursement for utilizing your own equipment is a non-taxable reimbursement that is a separate line item on your pay stubs. It is not taxed. Our training time is based on years of research, and we understand some may complete the training sooner than others, however, due to the complexity of the systems and roles, we do continue the training into a mentoring capacity. Our pay rates are posted in our job descriptions as well in all offer letters, explaining the training rate will change upon graduation. All pay is based on state requirements for overtime hours and all are followed accordingly. While we appreciate feedback, we appreciate factual feedback that can assist us in continuous growth. Posting of information that is completely false is not appreciated. We wish you well in your new endeavors.

Thank you for your feedback. We continually improve our training program, always looking for new ways to engage the adult learner. We have a very healthy pay for performance bonus programs for our employees, and while there are staggered wages, they are based on many factors. We encourage improved performance as our pay for performance program is available to all employees in hourly roles.

Pros

This is a legitimate company that has primarily a work from home workforce. They offer benefits. This may be a good place for someone in a rural area (as long as they have stable internet). Good starting place for people wanting a start in tech. They offer training for new hires.

Cons

No raises ever. Poor processes to resolve customer issues with client. Mismatch between company's values and actual policies and practices. Limited advancement opportunities.
