Pros

Free lunch, if you can choke it down, the food is pretty bad. Cheap vending, used to be free but now it's a quarter. Basketball court, free gym.

Cons

Used to be great before Amazon took over, now employees are leaving left and right because they have to pay for the health insurance that used to be free, which isn't so bad I guess, but Amazon is making employees pay back the money they made after the acquisition from raises they got from Zappos, which is crap. Also the place is extremely clickey and it's impossible to move up on merit, only if you kiss the right butts can you go anywhere. What used to be a fun job just turned into something that was too focused on quotas.

Pros

Flexible scheduling. Great coworkers but you’re remote, so that’s not as much of an impact as it used to be.

Cons

In a word: Amazon. Lack of company wide communications leave everyone whispering in back channel communications. Nearly all of upper management has been forced out or “resigned to spend more time with their family” in the past year. Senior leadership is all remote doing ShopBop/Zappos dual roles in NY and WI, though officially the headquarters is still in Vegas. Complete lack of career growth or upward mobility, with frequent layoffs, including all staff of Zappos ONE (the company DEI and community engagement initiative) and Zappos for Good, (charitable endeavors) and the Engage team (responsible for employee engagement and morale.)

Nepotism and Apathy disguised as Friendliness

Pros

Health Benefits Work from home flexibility Approachable Leadership Fun environment to look for when being on-site

Cons

Working at Zappos is a fun experience but soon you start to wonder what people actually do. Many employees who have been part of the company for years seem to have a pass to do as little as possible. Leadership likes to put in a kind face but speak poorly about the people they don't like behind doors, hindering any possibility to grow within the company. Leadership often thinks highly of mediocre employees who are apathetic, do very little, and are purposely unhelpful to others they don't like. Direction, training, and guidance is poor. You will have a hard time receiving concrete help even after asking for it and navigating their endless systems. HR acts like everyone's best friend fist bumping, hugging, and even kissing people and yet accomplishing very little other than long meetings about politically correct bureaucracy. Their parties and events are appealing at first, but leave you feeling uneasy after a while as the effects of alcohol give place to inappropriate behavior, looks, and even touching.
