Pros

It's better than being unemployed. Team members are over all very hard working, cooperative, good intentioned, and very friendly to work with.

Cons

The pay is less than other big box retailers. There is no extra compensation for holidays, for which they are open for all except Christmas. As a DS, you have no say in how or when you are scheduled, you have to offer open availability. There are weekly "turnaround" shifts, where you close and leave the store around midnight, and then have to be back at 6am. In a year, I only had 2 days in a row off once. The store manager where I worked crushed the morale of everyone working there. There was a 100% turnover in in one year. Training was on the fly, in a very high volume fast paced store, most of us were figuring out things as we went. GSL leading, was very frustrating, because we had to coach the cashiers to sell bpp's, batteries, rewards and instant credit all of which most people didn't need or want. They tracked the numbers on these add ons and if the numbers where low as a DS you were held accountable and could be written up for that. When you quit, any earned vacation time is not paid out. You lose it, but you gain the opportunity to find a better place to work where you'll be more respected.

Pros

Nice Campus, would be nicer if we had more time to enjoy it. Some nice people. Some discount, low for retail standards.

Cons

Management changes their mind constantly and employees are left running around to meet new expectations. Many decisions are made based on "perception" and fear, and are often not the best decision for the company.

Pros

Work here only if you need a job in a bad way. Initial salaries are competitive for Store Managers. Again, unless you are desparate, stary away from ToysRus. No self-respecting professional has any business here.

Cons

4th rate retail. The leadership at the company thinks TRU is relevant. It is not. It is not fun, you have no resourses, and your are micromanaged. This company does not even pay you for accrued vacation if you leave--classy! Stay away from this company. If you work here--over time-- you will be embarrassed and angry at the company, its mis-management, and its blatent disregard for Team members. There is a reason why you can at any given time find multiple listings for store managers in every TRU market. This is 4th rate retail. Stay far, far away.
