Pros

I was a part-time, hourly employee. I appreciated the flexibility in scheduling hours and the ability to receive more hours when asked for. My co-workers were pleasant.

Cons

Working in retail is stressful overall. Many of the customers at Babies R Us have small children and are stressed out and will take out their frustration on staff.

Pros

Management is very friendly, nice, and understanding. It's also a lot of fun playing around with toys when it is very slow (especially in the morning times). You also get a discount (I believe 10%) off almost everything in the store and you get to hold items that you want that are on sale or clearance.

Cons

The pay! Compared to other companies it is very low! Plus you have to constantly offer customers credit cards and service plans and ask for donations for certain things (for Children, usually around Christmas time). All of this would be ok but you don't see a dime of it since there is no commision pay. Also, the employee discount only covers basic toy items: No electronics. So unless you are still a child at heart or have kids around there isn't a whole lot to use your discount for. Oh, and by the way, after Christmas, if they don't let go of you, you will be hard pressed to get many hours unless you have exceptional experience and skills.

Pros

Working with children is very fun. Kids these days have so many different kinds of toys and advances in technology have helped kids gain more knowledge about things. You have a chance to see how toys have changed throughout the years from simple to futuristic. I never realized that toys sold so easily everyday to adults who had children at home. During the holidays, the store was so packed that you couldn't really have time to clean your section because you were helping customers left and right. It was a fun experience and I would work there again if I had free time.

Cons

There are so many workers that you don't really get a chance to have a lot of hours to work. During holidays, you might just be hired for a seasonal position, which means that your job may be temporary. If you are a good worker, they may ask you to stay for another season. There is a high chance that you might get called in on your days off if other workers don't show up for work. It is roughly 15-20 hours for part-time workers, which I had applied for. Working at Toys "R" Us can be quite hectic if you are not up for a challenge.
