Pros

The one good thing is the ability to be in the company of other HR professionals - something that is rare once you get past entry-level HR, unless you are in a very big company.

Cons

The executives have NO understanding of HR. I was actually told by a member of the management team, in a wine-induced state of candor "I have no idea what you do all day." That might not be so alarming if not for the fact that these executives were in the midst of decisions about how to staff the client services team. In the end, they chose to greatly increase the client load on the client services team, providing maximum profitability. Consequently, the rate of turnover among the HR consultants who support the clients is unbelievably high. One colleague put it well on the way out "I'm tired of starting every client conversation with 'I'm sorry '". It just wasn't possible to provide good client service with the workloads that were assigned in the run up to the IPO, and that continues to this day. The result has been a mass exodus of HR services professionals, and a backfill with less and less experienced consultants. And the reputation among their clients continues to degrade - constantly changing HR reps, poor service levels and inaccurate and incorrect guidance. You can't blame the HR consultants - they are being set up without possibility of success. But you certainly don't want to join them.

Pros

Few folks in leadership actually care about their people. Majority don't, seriously. For TriNet, it's all about their company over anything and everything - not the people who do the hard work. The CEO tries to be an advocate for sales, but other Execs seem to be controlling what actually happens which is to the detriment of the company. TriNet tries to be innovative, but fail to do it every step of the way. If you're looking for a place to make you resilient, TriNet is the place, as every day you'll feel like you're running up Mt. Everest with 200lbs on your back with no help.

Cons

TriNet will always do what's in TriNet's best interest at the detriment of their employees. Little value is placed on the employees. They expect the highest performance, while literally giving you the tools, the capacity, the training or the leadership to perform. You're in TriNet's world, you can make recommendations that fall on deaf ears. TriNet has the worst sales turnover. They under prepare their new hires, the leadership they have training are ill suited leaders and what's worse is that the new hires see a culture of "lack of effort, tenacity and sales efficacy." It's a dog eat dog world at TriNet, people don't work together, they are always at each others throats. Executives at TriNet seem to live in a delusional world, not knowing what is really happening on the ground level. They make corporate decisions that negatively impact their clients, their clients employees and TriNet corporate employees. Those decisions force Sales folk to not only try to sell, but also now they are customer service, customer support and always doing this with an incredible internal struggle. Nothing is easy at TriNet.

Toxic Work Culture

Pros

Decent base salary for sales

Cons

This place epitomizes toxic work culture. The majority of male managers (referred to as DOS) lead with intimidation and fear. It's a workplace where directors brag about making new hires cry in shark tanks. It's a place where two co-workers can get into a screaming match in the middle of the sales floor, threatening to get the other fired, and there's no consequences. Even for a sales job, the complete lack of a work life balance is extreme. The horrible culture and work life balance greatly outweigh the decent opportunity to make money here.
