Pros

I picked my own start time schedule. They allow anywhere from 7 am to 9 am start time, 8 hour day with 2-15 minute breaks and 1 hour lunch. I came to Trubridge already knowing the Thrive system, so my training was short, and I was able to start with my Team within a week. Full time employees start accruing ETO (earned time off) on the first day, health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, 401K(after 1 year) available after 30 days. Nine paid holidays, including the day after Thanksgiving,Christmas Eve, MLK day. My manager is simply GREAT! She knows her stuff and is very personable, understanding, and professional. Because I was already experienced, my start pay that was offered to me was tremendous and with benefits, can't beat it! If you have self restraint to work from home, this is a great job. They send you the computer, monitor, phone headset(works thru the computer), once you set up, you just call in and they have IT remotely set up your computer for you. Super easy. Make sure that your internet supports VPN (most satellite internet providers DO NOT!). You pretty much bill and followup and sometimes work accounts from reports sent to you by the manager. I truly love this job more than any I've had.

Cons

The team that you are assigned to will provide a site book which you need to learn in order to know what each site you are billing for allows you to do with claims, such as adding or changing information on the claim, account followups, etc. Some site books are several pages long and you need to learn and refer back to it frequently. Remotes only allow Microsoft Office Writer instead of Microsoft word or Excel, it's not very user friendly (only 1 person at a time can use it), email is thru Outlook web, which is limited in settings, it works. Make sure to write everything down, as they expect you to remember after they tell you once, and they will say as much that they've already gone over this.

Communication is important and a common theme we see where we could improve. We are taking your advice and working to come up with better communication tools and set meetings to keep the lines open between in-house and remote staff.

poor software design and herds of unhappy customers

Pros

Insurance benefits only have $1000 deductible for family (which is good for 2017) and only cost $140 per month.

Cons

They have tried to appear to be more current with their software, but rarely have any of their customers been happy with the product after I have left. The rebranding a couple of years ago from CPSI to Evident was apparently because the company suffered from a poor reputation where the area of being willing to update their software (get rid of DOS, etc) was concerned. They are still using outdated software from the 80's on several applications even now. The number one complaint from customers: "It's too many clicks and takes too much time." This is something you hear at every site you will go to. Doctors see less patients (sometimes substantially less) than they do prior to obtaining CPSI's EMR system. Also, the software is so full of bugs that you will actually spend more time testing the software to have work requests written than you will spend time getting to train your doctors and nurses how to use the software. This company is suffering financially and not willing to hire new employees to replace the employees who are leaving in droves so everyone who is left is expected to pick up the slack and still either get paid their Chinese overtime or be a salaried employee and expected to work 60 or 70 hours per week. Upper management is told to go out of their way to make sure the sites are not told the truth about being short-staffed and not having enough reps to send on site. Even recently, a manager told a rep to lie to a site stating that it was just a "misunderstanding." Lies are common with upper management. This was supposed to have changed with the rebranding from CPSI to Evident, but it's still no different.

Pros

Easy to get hired Paid travel could be seen as a plus Foot-in-the door of the HIT industry

Cons

Low compensation Widespread nepotism Management is wildly under-qualified The core product is very bad. I have seen a lot of EMRs, and I will admit that most of them are not great and based on outdated technology. To an extent, vendors can't be blamed for this. The last five years has been a mad dash to keep up with constantly changing federal regulations. We are finally moving from an era where EMRs are purchased solely as tools for MU attestation into an era where health care organizations can be a little choosier and select a product based on features and support. Often times we see new features thrown into existing legacy code just well enough to make it work rather than rebuilding the product from the ground up. CPSI takes this poor approach to the extreme. Their legacy code is extremely old--it was written in the 80s. Their software development team is underpaid and extremely small for a company this size. Even if they had any incentive to improve their product--which they don't--they surely wouldn't have the resources to do it with a couple dozen low-quality developers that are willing to work for CPSI's paltry pay rates. The development team is like every other team at CPSI--anyone with any actual talent abandons ship as soon as possible to work for a company that pays a decent salary. Turnover is extremely high in all departments for this reason. Anyone who works at CPSI for many years is either climbing the management ladder or so imcompetent and under-qualified that they are just happy to have a job. I work for a large EMR company now, and the entry level trainers we hire are more technically qualified than the support managers at CPSI. If you are a CPSI customer and you are wondering why the support is so atrocious, it's because the tier 1 reps that you speak to are out of work substitute teachers and their managers majored in Art History. Literally no one on the technical support teams has any technical knowledge whatsoever. Even the in-house software that they use for support case management is a JOKE. It barely even has a graphical interface and is mostly operated by keyboard shortcuts. The absolute worst part about working at this company is the culture. Since all of the mid-level managers are incompetent, they are intimidated by anyone in a lower position that knows too much. They are petty and spread gossip about subordinates. Information on how the software works and how to solve problems is hoarded and kept from reps in order for management to make themselves seem important. And god forbid you actually figure it out on your own. I have seen people reprimanded for using commands that are completely harmless (and in fact MORE EFFICIENT methods) simply because management doesn't know it. If a command isn't spelled out for them on a sheet of paper, they think it's harmful, because they have zero technical background and they can't run basic commands on a terminal. I will repeat what every previous reviewer has said: If you can get a job anywhere else, do it. The only value of this job whatsoever is to get your foot in the door, learn what you can about the healthcare IT industry, and springboard to another company. If you h ave no choice but to work here, don't make the mistake of thinking that hard work and exceptional performance will benefit you here. Your best bet is to try to get in good with management--your actual work performance counts for very little.
