Pros

Decent benefits and PTO (although other companies in Orange County have plans that are just as good); great company/buzzword to have on your resume; satisfaction that knowing your hard work - no matter how far removed - was to help a patient in need.

Cons

*It is clear that there are a group of people in upper management that could care less about the level of care our patients receive and are only focused on their own agendas. This is unfortunate because there are some new higher level leaders that seem to care very deeply about pushing this hospital forward. *Communication is horrible across the organization. Bottom line. *Morale is low in a lot of departments because resources are so low. Obtaining approval for more team members/replacements is difficult and cut backs on staff are putting a strain on many different teams throughout the hospital - both clinical and non-clinical. Employees will eventually burn out and make mistakes with patients if resources are not provided soon. *Little to no opportunity for movement, especially as positions are cut and there is zero focus on career development. *Many HR team members have left (and have not been replaced) within the past year which makes it seem as though something bigger is going on. There used to be positive energy and better involvement from the HR leader and that does not exist anymore. *Historically unfriendly environment where people do not say hello, good morning, or engage in small talk with each other.

Pros

Benefits such as 401k, paid vacation, paid holidays, and healthcare are a huge plus. You will also gain a lot of experience and a greater understanding of how a teaching facility functions. The ability to witness the positive effects of innovative patient care is inspiring.

Cons

Due to the Board Of Regents oversight and the hospitals affiliation wth the state of California as a teaching facility this is a HIGHLY political environment. Almost cut throat. Union involvement for non-exempt staff doesn't help. A lot of back biting which is counter productive to a team environment.

Pros

Co-workers & staff supportive & friendly. Great place to gain valuable experience. Good benefits & pension (b4 2014) but takes a big chunk out of salary.

Cons

Horrible management on all levels, not knowledgeable in the areas they manage, resistant to employee input, hostile environment, no work-life balance, very long hours, understaffed & overworked, low employee morale, high management & employee turnover.
