Pros

PTO time is not bad

Cons

This is in no way, shape or form "American" retail standard. The main focus for Uniqlo is " make every look pretty". The worst replenishment practices I have ever witnessed in all my 30 years in business! The area manager for the northeast thinks that the American store managers don't know how to manage a retail store. This retail model is broken. They expect perfect 100% of the time during business hours. There are just about 30 layout changes some very big and some small. Associates are treated with little to no respect, Supervisors are their whipping dogs! The trainning is horrible, in order to advance within and up the ranks you have to subject yourself to a series of exams! The layout changes happen during the close hours so the closing shifts go to 11p! This is by far the worst retailer to work for, i would never reccomand this company to anyone.

Cons

Never have I felt the need to ever write a review for anything in general. Yet here I am writing away for the first time. There are many negative aspects in regards to working for this retail store. One thing I do applaud is the fact that Uniqlo has high standards and values and strives to serve customers as their number one need. However with that said, in turn it has led to unfavorable reviews for this store itself and created a cycle of high turnover rates. Management here is horrible. Not sure where to even begin. As a new associate, expectations are very high for the meager pay that everyone says is better than most retail places. Indeed it is, but for the work you do, it's not worth it. They will place you on the floor and make you clean and tidy until everything is perfected. Often times these tasks must be completed within an unachievable time frame. Everything you do, you will be watched by veteran associates and higher management. They will critique you in every negative way instead of trying to show you how to improve as a better associate. Not only will you be told once but you will have not one but associates tell you the same thing over. Alongside work ethics, they expect no talking during store business hours and non store business hours. Higher management will scold you clearly for that. Funny thing is, higher management is quite contradictory in that sense. Associates will not be allowed to stand too close to each other or talk to one another yet you catch supervisors etc. doing it like it's nothing. What kind of leadership is that when higher management cannot set the example and expect associates to do as they are told. Hypocrisy. Higher management and vets in this case are often young adults who often believe they are the best and know what they are doing yet are quite immature as leaders. They have no effective leadership skills and often boss you around believing those are the necessary skills needed in order to guide everyone and lead everyone to become successful at this job and drive this store forward. However, one thing is for sure, Kids + Seniority = Power Trip. Failure. In regards to work schedule, higher management needs to improve on this aspect. Work schedules are done weekly. For our store, schedules come out on Friday. However, sometimes it'll come out the next day or so. Or when you expect to go in, your manager may call you and tell you to come in at a different time or change your location etc. They say they will give you one week in advance so that it'll give you room and space to plan ahead. But in reality, one week does not give you any time to plan ahead. Another interesting fact is that everyday when you come into work, the store will have associates write down their daily work schedules as well as the target and sales goals from the day before as well as today's objectives, best selling items for men's/women's/Children etc. This usually takes about ten minutes with there being many associates starting the same shift. However, you must write all of this down before clocking in. Otherwise, once again higher management will get and scold you on this. Since when was it legal for employees to work everyday and jot down our mandatory daily sales goals etc before clocking in? Sigh. Folks know not any better to question it. Promotions can be interesting. Suck up to your supervisors and managers and you will earn the brownie points to climb the ranks. Good luck if you ever do expect to join. Hint: All of that equals high turnover rates.

Pros

I feel they're a pretty organized company for the most part. You will meet lots of great people. They do motivate you to move up in the company. There is room for advancement if you know your stuff. The pay is not bad for retail. You have a great HR team that really tries their best to look out for the employees on all levels. Clean working environment. There's always something to do. Can be a really exciting experience. I've also got some really good songs in my ipod from the company's playlist. you will learn a lot about business if you pay attention

Cons

With good People there are bad people. way of life. Management and even associates will go on the most insufferable power trips. You'll feel like you're entering the twilight zone. There are unbearable power wars among employees all day every day. If you can tolerate being spoke to in a condescending manner more power to you. Long hours. It will seem as if you go to sleep at UNIQLO and wake up at UNIQLO, every single day. 7 AM opening shift is ridiculous for the type of work. 12 am closing shift is ridiculous for the type of work. This company has unrealistic expectations. And through the roof standards. The job can feel high school-ish at times as there are a lot of young college students and cliques. If you are an associate You will stay till 2 AM bringing the store back up to standard even though you are scheduled till 11 and management will hold it against you if you leave when you are scheduled to leave. You will be scheduled out of your availability. You expected to become a uniqlone. breathe eat and sleep it. There are times where you feel like a soulless robot. This job can really suck the life out of you, consume you, destroy your creativity, spirit and your ambition to be anything that isn't uniqlo .Such a redundant and trivial job. Many of my co-workers feel this job has made them feel worthless.
