Pros

Company is philanthropy centric and offers a lot of non-salary employee benefits, like an on-site fitness center, mobile bike repair service, monthly cake day, monetary incentive for physical wellness (annual drawing for bonuses for those who’ve made the effort to be conscious about wellness) and others.

Cons

Healthy care isn’t great. Two, high deductibles options with minimal company reimbursement, no HSA, so you can’t roll it over (unless you were grandfathered into the HSA that they used to offer). Pay is comparatively low of the industry.

Pros

VSP is a great place to work, the training is in depth and spaced out so you can apply what you have learned , before moving on to the next subject . CSRS can get burnt out, it's a very high volume call center. Can work from home .

Cons

CSRS can get burnt out, it's a very high volume call center. And if you're stats are not perfect, you have no chance for advancement. But it is ultimately up to the individual to put in their full effort.

Pros

There are very few pros with VSP, but your vacations will never be denied. The door is always opened and a great place to start an office career. (be careful, they call VSP "Hotel California, very hard to leave once you're in) 401k is fair. Dental is good and vision... come on you own a vision company give a little coverage...1 pair per year. Coverage is very limited to their brand and its subpar at best. Company Cafe's are great. Cake day once a month. Casual environment. Flexible work hours for some departments. EAP and you're going to need it.

Cons

Medical benefits provided "VERY" high deductible. The company contributes $300/$600 per yr to cover employees/family out of pocket expenses and but you pay $4000 deductible per employee and each family member, then your coverage kicks in. Wages are way below what other health companies in the area especially if you take into consideration the medical coverage. If you need the work experience VSP will do the trick but get in and get out as soon as possible.
