Pros

I have worked in 3 different business units since the beginning of my career at VSP and I can honestly say there are a lot of good managers that truly want to help you advance.

Cons

Each business unit is different and management in my current unit are extremely unprofessional, a lot of micro management and a feeling of no trust when it comes to management. Benefits are no good and for being a vision insurance company you would think they offer their employees the best vision benefits.

Pros

Highly complex enterprise using many tools to build and maintain Web services and database infrastructure to run the business. Moving to an Agile SCRUM methodology for project management, entrepreneurial approach - first to market stratey.

Cons

Family culture overall waining. Volatile staffing delays hiring of contractors. Increased turnover, loss of loyalty.

Pros

VSP is a 60 year old company that provides consumer charity services, and strongly believes in giving back to the community., As an employee there are promotional and growth opportunities for both individual contributors and management. VSP provides an excellent 401K plan and a robust health benefit package.

Cons

The company is growing so fast that it's workforce struggles to keep up. It could do better in offering competitive salaries now that the economy is improving.
