A lot of mixed messaging.

Pros

Spirits seem to always be high, even in tough times. Overall incredibly friendly place. Many different aspects and teams which lends to a lot of different ideas and thoughts to collaborate into solutions.

Cons

Poor execution on new ideas. Resistant to changing old ways and expecting different results. When the going gets tough, everyone gets on defensive and it creates a LOT of drama and lack of trust within the teams. On the forefront of technology, but always seem to be a step or two behind the competitors. A lot of effort is spent trying to play catch up.

Pros

My coworkers are helpful, friendly people. They want to make sure I understand the applications and know what I'm doing and how to get what I need. I've asked a few developers for help and received the same positive attitude. There are fun company events and the people are friendly.

Cons

The compensation is below market value. A developer's starting income is higher at other companies. The health insurance is a little pricey, but not too expensive. It was weird to find out the son of a developer received an internship, despite many other qualified applicants. The senior developers appear to look for specific candidates for software engineering positions. Not necessarily based on skill or experience. Sometimes they appear to look for people who think in a certain mold, rather than finding someone who will learn. When you start in Engineering, you are expected to run in a couple weeks of starting. There isn't a lot of formal training. My manager expected me to have involved tasks done within a month of starting. It's a little nerve-wracking when you're learning the system from scratch. I've heard people who work hard and are accountable receive rewards...the promotions don't happen often in I.T. Expect to work 2x as hard as you would in a different company.
