Working for a Start-Up - Exciting!!

Pros

This is an exciting company with a huge heart. Like any start-up - changes are made constantly, but always in the right direction. Compensation of course is not great - this is a start-up - and this is what I refer to as "sweat equity". You have to be a believer - or you should not be here!! One of the most exciting experiences in my career - and I have worked for start-ups for the past 20 years. Excited to be part of a company that I believe will change the way not only the real estate industry does business, but the way all businesses may be run in the future. If you can handle the ride - and love a fast pace and great people - you need to be here. Some comments have been made referring to how they treat employees - my experience has been totally the opposite - they hung in with me during a serious illness, supported me, allowed me to work remotely when necessary. I do not think anyone would find that kind of support at many other companies, small or large. The culture here is awesome and is truly something that seems important to Leadership. For a young person - this is a company that you can attain a wealth of experience that you will never get in a large corporate environment. I would recommend any young adult that wants to be part of something awesome - this is your chance. Imagine if you were on the ground floor of a Facebook, Linked In, Drop-box, or any of those other companies - this is your chance, right here in Cincinnati, Ohio!!

Cons

Like any start-up - mistakes are made - and sometimes it can appear punitive and insensitive - however - what I have seen is that they continue to make things better. They recognize mistakes and try to fix them asap. It can be brutal to someone who has not experienced working for a start-up like this...and most people in Cincinnati have not. Compensation is getting better. If you do not have a vision for the possibilities here - do not apply.

Wow - I really appreciate the time that you spent on this response. Very thorough and helpful. It's energizing to share the excitement and passion that you described in your review. We are on an exciting ride and what's more exciting is that we still have a long way to go. As for your Advice to Management, I couldn't agree with you more that some of the best insight comes from the front line. It looks like this review occurred before we started the weekly FYI meetings. Hopefully that has helped to provide a more regular forum for everyone in the company to share ideas and feedback, and we're always open to other ideas that will open up the channels even further. Feel free to send me a note directly. Lastly, you nailed your comment about mistakes. We've made a lot of them, and we will make more. It's not intentional but rather a function of moving fast and iterating regularly. We'll continue to embrace them and do everything we can to not make the same ones twice! Austin

Fast paced start up, changing the way peoplework!

Pros

At dotloop you get an opportunity to work in a space that no one has ever been before. You get to show business owners a better way to run their business's and change their lives. dotloop is a FUN place to work and has a great culture full of people working together to accomplish mutual success.

Cons

Starting pay is not the highest, but commissions are big and if you work hard it will pay off BIG. Constant change so you need to be able to handle a fast paced changing environment.

Great product and interesting problems to conquer Great people trying to raise the bar

Cons

Bad hiring decisions in higher management Worse culture for a technology company No perks at all after all this hard work Seriously, need to let go of senior managers who have nothing but to harm the company in making poor decisions about hiring, roadmap etc.

I just discovered the Employer response function on Glassdoor, so pardon my delayed response. A lot has changed since 2013, so I'm not sure how applicable some of this feedback is at this point.
